To borrow a line from Roger Rabbit: ".. it stinks like last weeks diaper ..."

You don't give an indication of your past driving experience, so is this a situation of total desperation?

Unless you have in writing, what your pay would be and who would be responsible for what - assume you will be responsible for everything.

Does it have current inspection and tags, insurance?

Well, for your sake, I hope that it doesn't; what he is wanting to do is illeagal, and contrary to your benefit.

The IRS and State Workforce Commissions have very strict guidelines on the use of independent contract labor.

In any event, "FruitLoop", welcome to CAD, and BOL2U!!

This whole "job opportunity" sounds incredibly fishy to me. I currently drive dumps and there is no way i would take a local job where the guy wants to me pay cpm for local work, cuz you said he was thinking about paying you by the hour  not a good idea.

Also going the 1099 route, and paying your own taxes, usually completely screws the driver.

And the fact that the truck is an '89 would defintely cause me to think twice about the job. The truck i currently drive is a '90 Pete, but the owners have put alot of money into the truck to keep it running well. Running a rock truck is very hard on the equipment and can get incredibly expensive to fix when something goes wrong.

Personally, i would run like the wind from the job.

You probably won;t be covered be unemployent or workers comp on this job. So if you get hurt on the job, you will get no money!!

I have worked for a farmer doing local work for cash with no coverage or anything like that, i only did it for a few months. I wouldn't work fulltime like that.

I also hate old trucks!!! You will too, i really doubt the AC will even work half the time.

I drive the D/FW area....

If you let us know what experience you have, I can lead you to companies who might hire you. I have a couple in mind.

This is also keeping in mind what kind of truck you want to drive. (tanker, rock, etc...)

still no luck...appreciate the replies...I am looking into driving a garbage truck 8) I had my license since 11/05. I prefer to team with O/O that have their own authority when they need me...but I need to find more out there so I can drive more to pay my bills...I have no accidents or tickets my whole life...pulled over a couple times in a car...got myself out of tickets  LOL...I love life and just want to drive some. Would even like to drive for a mom and pop place by me...I live by Dallas, TX

I figured it was an older picture. Its the 80s dallas style hair that gave it away

All kidding aside. For some reason that pic of you looks really familure. Did you grow up in dallas? We are almost the same age and Im from dallas. I grew up in the Lake Highlands area and a little time in highland park.
