Default Questions about t.v. and showers.

My questions are this, with the superbowl coming up where do you watch it on the road. Are the driver lounges ok? Alot of post talk about driver hygiene, how much do showers cost and are they clean. Just alittle info on being clean, comfortable and entertained while on the road.

Most truckstops with TV rooms will have the superbowl playing, not a big deal finding a place to watch it. Now with that many trash talking drivers in one room.....it can be entertaining or annoying watching the game...depends on how you look at it.

Showers are free when you buy fuel at the truckstops, the large chains give a shower credit that can be used at any of their facilities. The credit will usually expire after a few days.

Some are cleaner than others, you learn where to stop and where not to.
They have towels although alot of drivers will not use them, they bring their own and some folks wear pool shoes in the shower.

As for me, I go in and shower and leave....never caught anything that soap would not wash off !!!! just kidding.

I have a 13" tv/dvd and spent 20 bucks for the airplane shaped rabbit ears. if I really want to see a sports game I attempt to park somewhere near a big city, 20 miles or less. I usually get great reception plus the comfort of my bunk!
you can get the tvs at most truck stops for $130 to $170 but of course they are cheaper at walmart.
a dvd player is nice too because you won't always be able to get reception. I have a Netflix account and drop my rentals in the mail so more will be waiting for me when I get home. you can also purchase used dvds at many truckstops for $8 to $12 bucks.
USA TODAY and magazines are great limited time entertainments too.

The 76 in Sacramento charges for showers no matter how much fuel you buy.

The driver was correct in stating.."you'll learn the clean showers..."...also...if you just ask the drivers in the lounge area for a shower "ticket", you'll usually find someone to oblige...I couldn't use all my showers...my skin would look like a prune.

As for the TV lounges...if you smoke they are great...you can get all the nicotine you require upon entry....

I'd rather be making money than hanging out at a truck stop watching some irrelevent sporting event.

Best time to drive will be tomorrow afternoon since most folks will be sitting on their brains watching the game.

I highly recommend that you do both of these things; as for the shoes, I wore flip flops!!
