Yep make sure you wear flip flops in that shower to keep your feet clean of whatever might be on that shower floor. And then, when your feet are clean and dry, put them right back into those same stinky boots you wear day after day.

Or before you step in that shower, run the water at piping hot temps for a few minutes, then cool it down and get in.

Muchaworryaboutnothing.

Well, I guess I see things a wee bit differently. Have you ever seen a custodian mop one of those shower stalls?? I have!! I have seen them mop the floors of the bathroom and showers with what looked like very dirty water, and then, after they are finished, go on to use the same mop and the same water in the next bathroom and shower!!

Talk about GROSS!!

As for putting on dirty, smelly shoes, it makes no difference whether you run OTR or you go home every night, very few people put on a new pair of shoes each day!! It is a good idea to have two pairs of shoes and alternate each day!!

As for boots?? I only wore them in the winter; the rest of the time, I wore sneakers!!

If you want to be really safe about the shower floors............

Take a can of lysol with you or spray bleach, and spray the floor, wait a couple of minutes before turning on the shower........and still wear flip flops!!!

Then spray the flip flops before you get back in your truck with them!!!

May seem like overkill but I'd rather not have Ringworm between my toes

I've just spent too many years in health care, so the idea of spreading bacteria, viruses, and fomites is just embedded in my brain!!

Consider this; here in The U.S., well over 100,000 people in hospitals contract what are referred to as "Nosocomial Infections"; read that to mean, infections that they contracted while in the hospital.

Now, if that is what happens in hospitals, I shudder to think about "the fungus among us" that is in a truck stop shower!! That being the case, and considering that some drivers bathe only once a week (whether they need to or not!!!) I'm just not inclined to take unnecessary chances!!

Hey, Inmate!!! Whatever you choose to do is up to you!! Me?? I'd rather err on the side of caution!!

There really is a world of difference between wearing a bio suit as opposed to a pair of flip-flops!!

Like I said, before I get into the shower I run it at the hottest setting possible for a few minutes to get the floor clean.

You dont have to go to extremes to protect yourself.

But here is something that I've seen in the past and for the life of me I dont understand it.

You'll be in the bathroom at a truck stop, OC, rest area...etc etc.
You'll see some driver come out of the stall, take the time to come their hair and then walk out without even washing their hands and go to straight to the buffet. I would bet some of those drivers are really concerned about wearing their flip flops in the shower. I'm not pointing to anyone here of course, but just a general real life observation.

Inmate, I saw 4 or perhaps 5 drivers do that very thing only a few days ago. I don't know if they went to the buffet, but they took care of their business and bypassed the soap and water to exit the door. Whether they went to the buffet or not, it is passing along germs to everyone.
