I didn't think to ask the RSW guy what kind of miles he was getting. You have to look at it this way also. In order for a company to be profitable, they need the miles as much as you do, so their not going to let you sit around too much. I've had very little down time due to lack of work. I'd guess that 90% of the down time I have is due to the shipper having trucks lined up half way around the block waiting to load or not having the order ready when you get there. This isn't a problem most of the time, but you do see it and from what I've read on here and heard from other drivers, it's that way in any segment of the industry. Maverick is good about paying detention. The pay is low as far as I'm concerned, but they don't hassle you over it. If you qualify for it and send in the request in the alotted time period, your gonna get it.

Arky is right in everything he wrote. Your going to have good weeks and bad weeks. This was my good week, but at the same time Ive had a good week, half of our fleet had a bad week. Its not just about freight. What gave me a good week for this last week was the fact my load that delivered last Monday gave me 1033 miles, and I still had until sat to get as many miles as I could. But a lot of other guys were sitting empty at the house, and started Monday out at zero. This is going to be a bad week for me and I already know that, because I have to renew my license tomorrow. So the load that would usually be dropped on Monday will now be delivered Tuesday, so Im a day behind the power curve. Oh well, gotta do what we gotta do right?

Default deal with it

I understand what u guys are saying about the good and the bad weeks, that's just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes , just part of the industry. Any Maverick drivers out of West-Tx or Tx on any forums??? Keep those wheels rolling !!!

Hey guys,

Sir Charles - I too have chose to go with Maverick. I am currently going to school to get my CDL and will be heading out to Maverick after I am finished. I finish with school March 16th and will be heading out to Mavrick right around March 25th. Actually my recruiter was going to have me head out on March 18th however after noticing that its my birthday gave me the option to come out on March 25th instead which i thought was pretty cool.

Stevedb28 - I really enjoyed reading your blog. It gave me a lot of information on what to expect when I get there.

Look forward to possibly meeting yall one day on the road. If you have any other information that might help me, please pass it this way. Thanks!

Be safe!
