Steve is correct, you will get a maroon one. Along with the orange trucks they got from Schneider, they also got the drivers from SNI. Well, most of them at least. A good friend of mine switched over to the Specialized Division after Maverick bought it and he took his maroon Columbia with him.

Just talked to him tonight and he's still loving it. He's making all kinds of money and for the most part he hauls from Carolina to Florida, deadheads back, drop and hooks and runs to FL again.

Sorry, can't help you much with that division here, don't know much about it myself. I'm sure it's about as good as any other region they have. Not sure where you are in TX, but the US division might be available to you also.

I can also tell you with Maverick, your region won't matter much until about Wednesday or Thursday each week. They will want to make sure that they will have you within your region by then so they can get you home by Friday. Just because you are in the SW doesn't mean you won't be headed up to Ohio or NC on a Monday or Tuesday and then work your way back home from there. I spent the majority of my weeks starting out headed as far south as Laredo and then I might run across the south to the Carolinas or GA before heading back up north on Thursday.

They do a phenominal job with getting you headed back to the house to be hom by Friday, but they also allow you to get those 800-1100 mile runs to help you make good money.

 

I've seen a few post here for Maverick and TMC, but no one seemed to mention Arrow which is also a player in the student driver hiring. I don't know a lot about them either, also Swift has a flatbed division as well.

I would promote Melton Truck Lines, but you need about a year exp first, or it might be 6 months.
A note about Melton, we tarp about everything, but we also get paid a good bit for doing it.

Have you even seen Sherman Brothers trucking out of Oregon? I have driven van and reefer and I am wanting to go to flatbed. I have a prehire from them and I am waiting to retire this year from the Army. They have a multi-axle fleet I am wanting to get on.

 

I don't know much about this company, I took at look at their company snapshot and it seems pretty good.

Hello Everyone out there in the Trucking World!!! Thanks 4 all the replies, I greatly appreciate them all. My recruitor called me up today and said i could have a class date in a couple of weeks . That really made my day. Now that sounds better than the 3-4 months originally . Something to do with some people not being able to make it , so i guess they try to fill the slots. Cool with me. I talked to a Maverick driver this week in Dallas. He is in the RSW division which I believe is the southwest division your going to be in. He told me that althouh he has been to Cleveland a couple of times and PA once, he normally stays in TX. He told me that he pretty much stays in a region confined by Dallas, Houston, Laredo and Amarillo.

That's doesn't sound like a bad gig to me at all. I might just wanna check into the RSW myself :wink:

the way it was explained to me was that you have the regions like RSW and southeast regional and US division (which is what I am in) ETC. But these divisions really dont mean too much when the freight is low. If you are in amarillo and they have a load going to wisconsin, guess what!! you get the load. The us division is basically all regions combined but it is not longhaul. That is LNG division and Maverick has less than 20 drivers in that division. Anyway, hope that helps.
