I have chained up in July to get over some of the local passes. As a matter of fact, I hang chains on all of my trucks (3 of them) all year. They never come off the chain hangers unless they are being used or repaired.

If a company driver has to buy chains to be a company driver I would tell that company to go F3@K temselves.... I worked for FFE and they provided chains and ad to be issued to ya and that was such a headache I bought my own and there now in my garage. Someday I might use them but the company I am with now has chains on all their trucks... and loadlocks too.....

Well, in all reality, it does not hurt to have your own chains on the truck too. If you never use them on the tires, it makes great weight lifting devices  in all seriousness.

California requires: 2 Tri-rails on either front or rear drives, 2 singles on either the front or rear drives, and 2 drag chains.
Washington requires: 2 Singles on both front and rear drives, and 1 drag chain. I typically run 2 drag though. Oregon Requires: 2 singles on both front and rear, and 2 drag chains.

if you got no chains you can also park it before you go into washington. a wsp going the other direction made me pull over and shut me down because i only had 8 chains in the rack for a 24 wheeler.he said i was out of service til i got one more. i kept rolling after he left tho
they look at your racks when you cross the scale.many times i chain up for 5 miles to get my load and get home an hour later.better than sleeping in a daycab. i wont buy chains for some big company, i guess i would park it before i would buy them.they know your gonna tear them up so they want you to own them |
