I just obtained my class A CDL from a private truck school. I have my orientation set up with swift and they made me aware of a road test that I have to take. Does anyone know what this road test consists of? Skills? Or just on the road driving? Just curious.

I know when I took my road test for swift, they just take you around the block. A few rights and left turns. And just had to back into 1 hole in the yard. Don't know if it is different since I went out with a trainer for 6 weeks before I took my road test.
But being you just got your CDL, from what im understanding. Im sure you are going to have to go out with a trainer for 6 weeks. And your road test will not be till after you have finished training.

It depends on the terminal you're signing up with.
Typically, it's a spin around the block - no interstate, and one back... usually a 45 degree one that could be taken as a straight back if you set it up right. Generally, so long as you don't hit anything, you'll pass. My test with the Columbus, OH terminal was a joke... and the guy testing me ignored me the entire time. Just gave me directions back to the terminal. Wouldn't even let me do my back on my own - he told me exactly when he wanted me to turn the steering wheel on the way back

My test consisted of a pretrip and making it out to the railroad crossing just outside the Lewiston Terminal, and then I was told that I passed.
