SWIFT ROAD TEST?

I just obtained my class A CDL from a private truck school. I have my orientation set up with swift and they made me aware of a road test that I have to take. Does anyone know what this road test consists of? Skills? Or just on the road driving? Just curious.

on the road driving would be your skills wouldn`t it?

i`m sure you`ll fit right in

should have been more specific when i stated skills... meaning backing up such as alley dock, strait line backing, serpentine, etc...

I know when I took my road test for swift, they just take you around the block. A few rights and left turns. And just had to back into 1 hole in the yard. Don't know if it is different since I went out with a trainer for 6 weeks before I took my road test.

But being you just got your CDL, from what im understanding. Im sure you are going to have to go out with a trainer for 6 weeks. And your road test will not be till after you have finished training.

It depends on the terminal you're signing up with.

Typically, it's a spin around the block - no interstate, and one back... usually a 45 degree one that could be taken as a straight back if you set it up right. Generally, so long as you don't hit anything, you'll pass.

My test with the Columbus, OH terminal was a joke... and the guy testing me ignored me the entire time. Just gave me directions back to the terminal. Wouldn't even let me do my back on my own - he told me exactly when he wanted me to turn the steering wheel on the way back

That could be said about any company out there. Do you actually have any constructive comments to add to this thread?

My test consisted of a pretrip and making it out to the railroad crossing just outside the Lewiston Terminal, and then I was told that I passed.

While i was at us xpress i road tested many swift drivers that came to work there ,so my statement stands .
