Exactly, my question too? You say you have to unload them but are you talking canned mushrooms or fresh? Palletized or floor loaded? If you are given CASH to pay for lumpers but you pocket the CASH don't you have to turn in a receipt for lumper services to your employer or wouldn't that money then be considered part of your wages and taxed?

Seriously, why would mushroom hauling pay so well? I drove for Frito-Lay and they are a private carrier who makes their money selling snack foods not hauling freight so they paid really well. Frito-Lay was all hand unloading using a hand truck and the most any driver made was around 80k a year and that guy worked local in Salt Lake City and unloaded 3 trailers a day usually, each trailer paying around $100 each to hand unload it with a hand truck.

i had to edit this and add this little note that i'm not saying i'm better than you as a human(we are all equal, just some don't have higher goals), i'm just saying i'm getting paid better than you, if you happen to work for a large carrier 8) . no disrespect, i'm a respectful being..........even on the net..........even if you bad mouth me

Hey Scoe, thats about right with frito lay, I know a driver and he said their paid like a commission or by the load rather than by the hour or mile, last year he made about 85,000 working for fritos and he works his tail off and said its the best truck job in the world... I know another driver that does the hostess stuff and yup you guessed it , he eats alot of it and it shows but he makes good money too....then there is the beer trucks from manufacture to distributor stuff too but most of them are swift anymore, damn swift drivers..

I made $25,000 in 2.5 months this summer. Granted every month year round isn't as good, but thats what vacation for the month of January entails! 8)
