yeah I sort of meant it would be out of pocket, but would they allow you to leave the truck in the lot is more of what I meant.

I have stayed in hotels before while out on the road. Just parked the truck in their truck parking area and got a room. No big deal. Got up the next morning and went back to work. The company never even knew. I don't see why it would be a problem.

JB Hunt approved my stay at a hotel when the AC stopped working.
In August.
In South Carolina. :P

Speaking of shower etiquette, how many of you people also dislike the bathrooms at Pilots? No privacy partitions and to top it off dirty bathrooms. I don't know about you guys but the last thing I want to see is some dude letting it all hang out. What's up with Pilots? Why must they crimp on the bathrooms?

To me...the Flying J's have the best bathrooms.

so what class are you in ???? I think maybe next to the lowest.... ohhh and don't democrats take money away from the lower class because they want it all for themselves ????
Hey, Uglymutt! You ain't as stupid as you look! JUST KIDDING!

You're right! I am just a notch above lower class! I don't even qualify as middle class (which usually requires two wage earners.) And yet, I STILL manage to pry loose a few bucks here and there for those less fortunate.

As for your TOTALLY misinformed idea of what a Democrat is.... well..... I can't comment, remember??

Rev, I personally don't include ALL minimum wage earners in the category of whom I tip. Fast food workers stand behind a counter that I have to walk up to, and then hand me warmed over food. And they do THAT with an ATTITUDE. Nope. Not tipping them.

Shower cleaners seem, to ME, to fit into the category from PsyWiped's list as Hotel Maids. I know that not everyone, including me most of the time, tip hotel maids. But on his/her list, they are "assigned" 2 bucks.

Again, SOME showers are a big as some hotel rooms I've stayed in, and require as much or more work to clean. I don't leave a tip at EVERY truck stop shower (as I said before.) But, I stand by what I DID say about tipping SOME shower attendants.

I drive team, so I don't routinely shut down every night for 10 - 12 hours like solo's do. But, if I'm laid over for 24 hours or more, waiting on a load, my company will pay for a motel in lieu of giving me layover pay.

I usually stay at one attatched to, or next to, a truck stop and just park the truck there as usual.

Well, Pilot's not my favorite of the lot either concerning restrooms. Most Flying J's are very private, (don't care for the filthy graffiti written all over the walls, however) and I also like the Petro on I-44 in Joplin, MO. Pretty good showers and laundry facilities at that one too.

You know what really gets my goat? A major truckstop without a TripPak.
Just throwing that one in.

I will not tip for someone just doing their job, but if they give me good service, yes I will tip. The times that I have tipped shower attendants were when my wife was with me and the attendant saw both of us headed to one shower and brought us extra towels she got a tip for doing something that wasnt required(if I had to go hunt down extra towels, no tip)...the one time I tipped when the wife wasnt with me, it was about 3 degrees outside when I got to the truckstop for the night...was gonna do laundry and take a shower...the shower attendant saw me doing laundry and asked if I was gonna get a shower after and if I had fueled...since I didnt fuel, the shower was going to be $9 but he said dont worry about it and gave me a shower key. he got a $10 tip. $9 for what I was going to spend anyways for the shower and $1 for doing something he didnt have to do.
