I have stayed in hotels before while out on the road. Just parked the truck in their truck parking area and got a room. No big deal. Got up the next morning and went back to work. The company never even knew. I don't see why it would be a problem.

Speaking of shower etiquette, how many of you people also dislike the bathrooms at Pilots? No privacy partitions and to top it off dirty bathrooms. I don't know about you guys but the last thing I want to see is some dude letting it all hang out. What's up with Pilots? Why must they crimp on the bathrooms?
To me...the Flying J's have the best bathrooms.

Hobo You're right! I am just a notch above lower class! I don't even qualify as middle class (which usually requires two wage earners.) And yet, I STILL manage to pry loose a few bucks here and there for those less fortunate. As for your TOTALLY misinformed idea of what a Democrat is.... well..... I can't comment, remember??

How many of you who advocate tipping people just because they earn minimum wage, tip when you go to a fast food joint? I mean, why stop with showers and restaurants? Why not tip EVERY minimum wage person you come across? How do you pick and choose who is "worthy" of your tip? Shower cleaners seem, to ME, to fit into the category from PsyWiped's list as Hotel Maids. I know that not everyone, including me most of the time, tip hotel maids. But on his/her list, they are "assigned" 2 bucks. Again, SOME showers are a big as some hotel rooms I've stayed in, and require as much or more work to clean. I don't leave a tip at EVERY truck stop shower (as I said before.) But, I stand by what I DID say about tipping SOME shower attendants.

I usually stay at one attatched to, or next to, a truck stop and just park the truck there as usual.

I will not tip for someone just doing their job, but if they give me good service, yes I will tip. The times that I have tipped shower attendants were when my wife was with me and the attendant saw both of us headed to one shower and brought us extra towels she got a tip for doing something that wasnt required(if I had to go hunt down extra towels, no tip)...the one time I tipped when the wife wasnt with me, it was about 3 degrees outside when I got to the truckstop for the night...was gonna do laundry and take a shower...the shower attendant saw me doing laundry and asked if I was gonna get a shower after and if I had fueled...since I didnt fuel, the shower was going to be $9 but he said dont worry about it and gave me a shower key. he got a $10 tip. $9 for what I was going to spend anyways for the shower and $1 for doing something he didnt have to do.
