I don't care how smart you are...you give me the budget and some flashy visual aids and i can sell YOU a microwave for 250,000 that doubles as a time machine and was built by Jesus Christ himself.

Did i ever say i was going there to be a lease operator? NO how ever i did mention that if i wanted to the option is there but i said nothing about me wanting to be one right off tha bat as you make it seem. But you can say whatever you like but at least get some facts straight. Just to see what everyone else thinks look for a poll. Later Byron[/quote] Don't think CR England has company drivers, regardless of what the recruiter tells you. As far as your poll, don't see why results would be any different from what you are hearing now, but I do look foreword to seeing your poll results. Your arrogance, combined with your ignorance only serves to make you appear very foolish. Your attitude is in essence"Unless drivers have actually driven for CRE, they really don't know what they're talking about". That is analogous to saying "Unless someone has actually pi&&ed on an electric fence, he really can't tell you for sure that it's going to hurt when you do"!! But, then again, what do I know?? Again, let me remind everyone that the red color is in honor of the red ink that awaits our Expert Wannabe!! :P BTW, regarding your comments about Swift; there has been a lot of negative discussion about them, and much of it was well founded. I have never been a fan of Swift, but I will say that I am hearing more positive feedback about them since their change in leadership, and since the departure of Jerry Moyes!! Have you thought about changing your handle from "FutureTrucker" to "CRE Troll"?? :asta:

In honor of "Useless" and "Future Trucker".......I'll put this in RED........... A little over a year ago, I was unloading at Publix Warehouse here in Jacksonville............a few docks down was a CR England truck being unloaded with a man and a woman sitting in the cab............I was bored, so I went over and started a conversation with them.........also, I was curious about everything I'd heard about England..........I asked them if they liked working (leasing) and if most of what I had heard about England was true.............the man hesitantly said, "Aw, it's O.K." (I assume his EGO wouldn't let him be truthful immediately).........then after they felt comfortable with my inquisition, the lady started crying............they both then got honest and said they were starving and had absolutely no money and no prospects of making any money in the near future leasing with C.R England............in fact, they were so far in the hole that they saw no way out except bankruptcy.............I have not seen them since that day. That's a true story, I had completely forgotten about it.............I did give them $20.00, they were more concerned about how to pay me back..........I just told them to pass it on, someone had done the exact same thing for me many years ago, and I still am grateful to the old Black truck driver from "Atlanta Battery Company" who helped me out when I was dead broke, broke down off I-85 between Atlanta and Greenville, didn't have a dime to my name and he gave me $20.00...................I'll remember him as long as I live........I owe him a debt of gratitude, I'll NEVER be able to pay..........that old man basically changed my life by helping me out, when I couldn't even help myself............he made me realize that there is more to life than just running these highways and byways, living like a gypsy, with a young family back at home, basically living hand to mouth. I quit trucking for about 20-years and was fortunate enough to get into the Sports Marketing and Promotions Industry.............now, I drive a truck because I WANT to, not, because I HAVE to................make life a "Hell" of a lot better. Future Trucker............you seem to think you have ALL the answers, just like you did with "Prime"...........I'm not telling you what to do or even suggesting to you what to do..........but, you DON'T have to end up like the people whom I mentioned in the above story............the people on this board have been around a Hell of a lot longer than you and have a lot more experience (if they've driven one mile, that's more than you have.........don't get mad, the truth hurts sometimes) than you..........I suggest you just don't discount what each and every one of them say and rationalize everything to your benefit. You sort of remind me of myself when I was younger..........all I have to say about that is, "the older I get, the more I realize how STUPID my father WASN'T", when he TRIED to give me advice............I knew a hell of a lot more than him, I thought...............damn, I had all the answers too........just like you.......boy, was I wrong. Either way FT..........best of luck in whatever endeavor you decide on.

It was between 100% and 110% in 2000, and they all have increased quite a bit since then.

Kind of reminds me of the guy who swears he's right, then he's confronted with a warehouse full of documents that prove him wrong...and the guy points at the documents and says....its all lies, I know it for a fact. futuretrucker....there is no conspiracy against CRE... And frankly I don't care if you sign their lease or not. I wish you the best of luck.... As one who has been around this "fray" since 94'.... I've talked to too many people who have sadly gone down that same street. Do yourself a favor, try to shake CRE down for an exact list of what is chargeable to you, and the amounts if you are going to lease a truck, then take that list to other companies and run a comparison. Then you will have something concrete to compare it to. Also, consider that the OOIDA is not in the habit of launching frivolous lawsuits.... In all truth....there is absolutely no way in hell that I would even in a drunken stupor consider "leasing" a truck from anyone, especially a used truck, and be liable for the repair expenses, or many of the expenses that the other fellow listed appeared on his settlement statement. It sounds to me like not only is the truck a "profit center", but you the lease driver (if you go that route) are also a "profit center". Not good. No way, no how..... uh-uh. I am one of those people who firmly believes that you need to have at least FIVE years experience in OTR before you even think about throwing yourself on that sword.... This industry is a fickle beast all of its own. Experience counts for a great deal. Even "bean counters" unfamiliar with this industry can't figure it out. As I said....Best of Luck to you.

I haven't seen anyone on here who's actually bitten the bullet and worked for England, as I did, so I guess I'll offer my two cents...
My experience with the lease operators at England was that they were the most miserable group of people I've ever faced. Back when I was a raw newbie, a couple approached my trainer and asked him, with tears in their eyes, if they could have something to eat because they were hungry. They were a lease team, and they were so ridiculously far in the hole with that criminal lease program... well, it made me sick. What else do you call a program that attempts to persuade rookies to take responsibility for a 72-foot something they only recently learned to drive? I had a couple of friends go lease a truck with England. One guy had a friend he teamed with, and man, he sure was proud of that shiny Classic... until he had three non-warranty breakdowns (at $500 a pop) in his first month. He never even came close to breaking even, and he was only able to eat thanks to his dad's generosity. He and his partner split England in April 2005, and my friend's just finished paying them off. My other friend went solo. Despite some serious running, he only made about $250 a week. He's still a lease op, and doing well, but only because he became a trainer as soon as he could. You can make money with England's lease program, but only if you're willing to become a trainer... |
