Freightliner VS Volvo
#12
The rumour I heard was that Jerry Moyce had a run in with Freightliner over some warranty charges and he told em to stick em where the sun dont shine and bought a boatload of Volvos for Swift and us over at Central Reefer.
We have the K900 available as a leased truck option only. I hear we are getting the T2000 as a lease option soon too.

Yeah back when I was working for Swift I heard that Freightliner and Jerry Moyes did not get along. So he went to Volvo. You also notice how Knight is running Volvo's now. I wonder how much Jerry Moyes and Randy Knight pal around? 8)

Dont know how true it is but I been hearing for a long time that Randy Knight and Jerry Moyes are related to each other and also to CR England. Supposedly they are all big in the Mormon church and thats who backed then gettting started. It may be just another urban legend but I've heard it a number of times.............Don

Compared to the Freight Shakers, I too much prefer the Volvos. Much quieter and smoother in my opinion, and yep... it's a lot like driving a car rather than a truck.
Moreover, like the other poster said, I use the front curtains to make up for the smaller sleeper but with the nicer interior. Also, the volvos turn tighter and you have a better field of vision, which makes manuevering in tight spots a little easier. Overall, I much prefer driving the volvo over the Freightliners and the one I drive is the 680.

I prefer the Pete 387. Then Volvo would be my next pick. First truck I drove was a pete 387 now I drive a Frieghtliner......... not even close, The Pete is like a cadilac and the Frieghtliner is like a Geo Metro.

In my opinion, Volvo's ride better than Freightliners and are quieter.

I drive a volvo 660,The bed is the same length & width as the fr-liner & international,But the way the closet & that blam filing cabinet is installed it makes it seem small in there.
The Co.I drive for has all 3 of the truck's above,as far as the ride the volvo beats them hands down,The frightliner rides nice,But they are 2005 models so I'm wondering how they will ride when they get afew years on them like our volvo has. I'll find out in Feb-or the 1st march, because all of the volvo's will be traded in & replaced with '06 FLiners. |
