Default Cell phones

What brand and model cell phone do you use on the road?

I recently switched to Verizon and have a LG VX3300 which I am lukewarm to because of reception.
Other than that its OK.

I had a Motorola 270c with Cell One before that knocked the socks off of my LG for getting and holding a signal.

I switched to Verizon to take advantage of some added features for the same money I was spending with Cell One.

The guy I may be going to work for is with Verizon and gives a monthly allowance for using my own phone for work so I can take advantage of their in-calling feature to save minutes, but I am concerned that my present phone may not be up the the task.

I've got a plain Jane LG and live way out in the Middle of the Bush but my reception is excellent plus the fact that Alltel is putting up new towers in my area doesn't hurt.

This is a no brainer, cell phones are basically all the same, what I mean is like in CB Radio, 99% on the inside are made by uniden but say something else on the outside, well same as cell phones 99% are the same on the inside so it could be a montgomery wards phone for that matter. the only difference is which service you bought tells you the brand you will get, has something to do with the way they compete in business... to make a short story a cell phone is a cell phone these days...just what service you want... tells you the signal you will get, its not the phone by golly.....its the service that sucks or not.....

As soon as the cost comes down a bit, I am going to get a Satellite phone.

I have already gotten rid of my land line at home and I use the Internet to do all of my long distance.

I use Skype for that.

I can talk to my daughter in New Zeeland with a real time video and audio link for no charge. And the reception is as good as a regular phone.

As soon as I can get a satellite phone on my wristwatch I am going to get one of those too.

Me and Dick Tracey.

Reminds me of all the guys who went to Iraq and bought Satellite phones prior to going over to the Sandbox Rocky.
Only problem being is that the Army has a Piece of equipment called "Warlock" that Jams all electronic signals :P
I think the guys/woman in Baghdad who got them worked there on OCCASION.

I am going to wait until the technology is a bit better, cheaper and smaller.

Significantly more than cells. (10 times as much seems to ring a bell)

I figure it to be like GPS.

Expensive for the first while, much less down the road a bit.
