Retirement

While I don't have a Roth IRA (yet), I do have a few dollars invested in some stocks and a few less dollars in bonds. Granted, I've only had those for three years now, but it's been doing rather well, especially compared to inflation and the banks' rates for savings accounts (which I have) and Certificates of Deposit (which I also have a few of).
I also keep a little floating around in the checkin' account for those times where I'm sitting at the dealer, waiting for repairs... just like right now.

Retirement is just too hard. I think that I will continue working.
freebirdrfd, if I were you I would find a CPA that you felt comfortable and see if they could offer some suggestions about your retirement and how you could shelter some of your income. I read something about having a 401k for sole proprietors. According to what I read, you can have a 401k as a proprietor as long as you are the only employee. It is my understanding that you cannot have any employees and have a 401k. If you have employees you will need to operate under a different business structure, such as a corporation, LLC, etc., in order to qualify for a 401k. Having a formal retirement program, such as a 401k or IRA could defer some taxes, but the way the government is heading you might just have some investments, such as real estate or stocks and do as well without having to worry about future taxes.

My last post was directed at you. You've been missing for months. I had no reason to explain the parable to others. It's in the Bible. Not a "stupid game." Just a conversation. |
