I tried one. But I wanted ice in it too, and they said it was the wrong climate. Ice wasn't part of it.:lol2:

Actually, I know of 21 that use satellite intelligence. NGA is National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. They may have added a few since your day.
NGA was called Defense Mapping Agency during my time. It has been around for many years but has expanded its mission and capabilities with the advent of GPS and newer satellites. CIA, FBI, DHS(new), USAFSS, NAVSECGRU, ARMY INTEL(?) DMA, DIA, JSOC, and many more..... I can name the agencies but I could never tie them to the "facility." After checking WIKI on the NGA, I've learned that MY facility was declassified in 2008, so I can now say that I worked at the Aerospace Data Facility (West) located at Buckley Air Nat'l Guard Base in Aurora, CO. I can even name the "compartmented" programs (satellites) like Keyhole, Jumpseat, Trumpet, Corona, Vortex and others. But, after reading the "official story" (no longer the cover story I had to use,) I STILL can't contradict it with the real facts. But..... it is a start.

And, if you saw my "smileys", I was joking... Well, at least a little. But, I also have things I don't believe I'm allowed to talk about either.
I KNEW you were joking, I was just a bit edgey. I'm SURE you have secrets as well. You might want to check to see if YOU can talk about them now. My clearance is not "active," but it was never terminated. I might want to use it again someday, so I have tried to maintain the security guidelines I was given.

And, my service was a bit earlier than yours. ('67 to '73)
Damm you're OLD! :lol2:

My clearance was terminated in '02 (9/11 may have had something to do with it), and that's the only thing that was terminated. But, 14 years ago, when I delivered a load to White Sands, I was given the "nickel tour". They didn't take me into anything that was actually sensitive, but unlike the other drivers, I was allowed to pull my load into the facility. They had to wait outside the gate for a yard horse to take their trailers in and bring them back out. Sure is an unusual experience driving a truck into a hole in the ground that you can't see until you're starting into it. Then, it doesn't even look like it will fit through the opening at the bottom of the ramp, but it does. Once underground, they had a surprising amount of room to maneuver.

Yeah, your generation had to make your SS # do double duty. We had a number that was dedicated just to military service and nothing else. Of course, I'm old. "RETIRED."Or do I have to make that larger? You've got a few weeks to get to that point.
