Default a song about the american trucking industry

jedi mind tricks (featuring crypt the warchild): shadow business

well, it's not really about the industry. however, the lyrics could easily be about it. any of you who truly believe the coolie carrier industry is fine. you are a fool! you're an even bigger moron if you have the "oh, that just goes along with the job!" mentality. that mentality and the fact that many truckers out there most likely have less than a high school education are the reason why wages are so damn low. they view you and others alike as r-tards, easy targets, and ignorant to the "lifestyle." that is no such life for anybody.

i'm so glad i got into a UNIONIZED-SPECIALIZED gig. i'll NEVER go back to that coolie carrier garbage.

And just HOW do you think you "qualified" for this nice new gig?

my new boss(es) told me that my solid work history and driving record all spoke for themselves. i kept my damn nose clean. when i showed up for the interview, i dressed to freaking kill. the rest of the possible candidates were dressed in jeans, dirty boots, tennis shoes, and neither of them had combed their hair. i felt like i had overdressed. it all didn't matter, though. all i had to do was fill out the rest of the application with my resume and cover letter. i didn't have to say a word.

you haters keep hatin'! next thing you know, i may be keeping your woman company while you're out making slave wages.

So.... if you had shown up, right out of CDL school, dressed to kill..... would they have given you the job?

My point was that MOST driver's have to start out the same way YOU did to get where YOU are now! So.... quit YOUR "hating."

For the record, I never actually had to DO the "coolie" stuff with my first company of 3 years. West coast and back HOME every week! And I now have a pretty "cushy" dedicated linehaul route with little or no waiting.

Everyone SHOULD know, and be encouraged to believe, that better jobs are out there and part of their "career plan." But, MOST of them will never GET those jobs unless they "stay the course" through a few years of working for a Coolie carrier.

one of my friends got on with a unionized carrier straight outta school. however, that is only because he knew the right people. the ones who keep on thinking what goes on in the non-unionized world of trucking is okay, deserve to be taken advantage of. they're too stupid to know any better. add a bit of laziness and you have your typical lard ass driver who makes his whole rig shake as he or she enters and exits, or gets in & out of bed. then there are those who have crappy MVRs, which is totally their fault, and that seems to be a good chunk of indentured slaves on the road today.

on my last day at knight, i was speaking to some of those "special" drivers. neither of them wanted to do anything besides drive the truck, and they all expected to make top dollar that way. all i told them was that they're stupid and will never excel at what they do. did they like what i said? feck no! however, some of the others who overheard me actually agreed. some of the office staff happened to be out there taking a smoke break also, and i noticed they nodded in agreement with ME.

by the way, hobo, i see fedex drivers reppin' their crappy contracting company each time i see one jack-knifed in snowy weather. you guys are the best! i really LOVE the national ltl end of theirs. i love how most of their drivers don't speak any english, or hardly, and they drive like they're still in their 3rd world craphole country they came from. i think it should be mandatory that ALL fedex drivers get off the road whenever it's snowing, raining, and/or windy. you guys can't drive for chit in that stuff.

when it comes to coolie carriers, i'm going to keep sipping a big bottle of haterade.

Do union shops still make hire-ons work the docks for a year or so before they can drive? No way I'd do that.

I've thought about trying to go union, but I don't know that much about them. Seems to ME like they have more control over their drivers than I want to deal with.

Well, I can't argue too much with this. There are a LOT of bad examples out there. But.... at least they are not on WELFARE! One of the saddest sights I've seen since I got into trucking, was an overweight Mexican dude, parked (for no reason) in the handicapped spot at a Flying J, who was helping his wife and TWO kids out of the truck. At first, I thought "what kind of idiot would bring his whole family along on the road?" Then.... I realized, they probably HAD no other HOME! :hellno:

on my last day at knight,

Which was at least ONE day more than "I" ever had to spend there....

... some of the office staff happened to be out there taking a smoke break also, and i noticed they nodded in agreement with ME.
Office staff? Dispatchers? ALSO working for Knight and not doing anything BETTER with their lives?

by the way, hobo, i see fedex drivers reppin' their crappy contracting company each time i see one jack-knifed in snowy weather. you guys are the best!

Thanks, I do my best. Actually, I've never SEEN a jacknifed Fedex truck... GROUND or LTL. I've seen one Yellow double hauler laid over on his side. Aren't THEY union? I've seen some UPS trucks and Conway trucks jacknifed trying to climb a hill of glazed ICE! I THINK the reason they couldn't make it up (besides being SINGLE screws) was that there was a slow AZZ KNIGHT truck blocking the interstate! :lol2:

i really LOVE the national ltl end of theirs.
I don't think I'd want to drive for them. Too many are single screw DAYCABS!

I love how most of their drivers don't speak any english, or hardly, and they drive like they're still in their 3rd world craphole country they came from.
You mean like YOUR ancestors probably did when they first came to America?

I think it should be mandatory that ALL fedex drivers get off the road whenever it's snowing, raining, and/or windy. you guys can't drive for chit in that stuff.
Well.... I don't know about MANDATORY, but I do know it has always been MY CHOICE, which is more than I can say for Swifties and Knights of the road!

And, in GENERAL, I find this comment funny.... considering that MOST of the fast trucks I see on the road, rain or snow, are FedexGround trucks! We are USUALLY in the fast lane passing you Swifties, Knights and other mega carriers like you were standing still. :eek2:

when it comes to coolie carriers, i'm going to keep sipping a big bottle of haterade.

Your choice... no matter to me. But, my point was that without YOUR start with THEM.... you wouldn't be where you are today! But then, maybe you're part of the "entitlement" generation.

hobo, you never cease to fail at missing the point of a topic. what i'm really "hatin'" on are those who defend the companies' treatment of drivers and then attack all those who oppose and want better conditions. i know where i came from and bettered myself. instead of staying in a rotting part of the industry, cycling from one piss poor company to another, i saw an opening for a driver and capitalized on it.

here are two pics of fedex ******s who found themselves in a bind. mind you, these are only two out of the nine i saw that very day. the daycab's driver had the set of doubles on their side. as you can see, a wrecker had the tractor hooked up.

all i feel i'm entitled to is better treatment. last i checked, i'm not living in a 3rd world crapper for a country. the way things are going, though, i'll be surprised if obama doesn't find himself staring at a barrel of a gun or two, or three, or many. i saw all those threats being made against bush jr. obama is a fair target. a well deserving one. the US military doesn't even respect him! he's a thin skinned b--ch who bows down to other nations and apologizes to them.

one more thing: my ancestors did speak english when they came over and eventually took part in handling the natives. they came straight outta england.
