Truth is this industry is garbage and people defend it by saying "its part of being a trucker".

WTF? are you serious? If you think that then there is no hope for you. Period.

We have sacrificed quality for quantity. Companies want more miles and don't care from who. So they ended up hireing some of the most unpresentable, social outcasts, unsocialable, unapproachable, people they can find. I swear there is some un written code some were for these mega carriers that says "if the guy looks almost normal, he is not hire-able".

I faced this and said, NO. I refuse to be treated that way and refuse to work for pennies. I can say bad things about the mega carriers cause by avoiding them I am were I am. I did NOT put up with their BS and refused to believe that one needs to put in 2 years OTR with one of them to get a better job were they treat you like a human.

As long as people put up with it, it will get worse. I am all for this "unfit" driver program. I hate the government butting into things but this is out of hand. This industry needs help and it needs to be forced to get cleaned up.
A 400lbs, unwashed, underslept, and over stressed bottle pisser of an employee is not an asset to a company but a major liability.

I always lived by one rule the minute I saw what was up in the industry, I will not drive if I don't get what I want. I will find another way to make a living. End of story. Easy as that. Now I have a permanent line route, that pays by the mile loaded and empty and also pays on duty, holiday pay, ot, equipment with less then 300k on it, break down pay, and a slew of other benefits. When these go away I will go away. But till then I will continue what I'm doing and preaching to others to stand up for them self's and look for other gigs.

You do not need to put up with this unless you
do not take a shower everyday,
shave everyday or maintain your facial hair,
dress with clean clothes,
read and write on a hs level,
and don't use the f word every other word.
If you can do those basic things you can get a better job. If not then "its part of being a trucker" for you.

I grew up looking at truckers as "men who work hard for a living and are tough guys you don't wanna mess with". Now.....its.... look at that poor sap...his life is better off as a homeless dog.

I almost quit a few weeks ago due to getting the shaft from an poe. But realized this is what it has come to. No tolerance. Its for the best. This industry needs help.

btw a pat on the back is in order for syncro. for doing what he knew he could, get a real job and piss on the a holes who wanted his soul.
if more drivers thought like him and did what he did, dressed and showered before an interview, we would have a hope of keeping the industry its respect.

Well.... I LISTENED to this "rap" and several OTHERS of theirs. Hard to understand them at times, but I think I get their drift. (I DID hear a young girl saying that "what we do is OUR choice.")

I'm revisiting this, cuz I DIDN'T listen to it before my first response. Not that that changes anything. But, I wanted to know what you were so angry about.

well, it's not really about the industry. however, the lyrics could easily be about it.
You're right, it's NOT about the trucking industry. It's about the "dollar a day" sweatshops in CHINA! AND.... it's about the mindset of those who have no choice but to live out that kind of struggle. But, you know? I know THOUSANDS of people around where I live working similar jobs for HALF what I make as a "professional driver."

My point here is that, for SOME people, even the worst of our industry is a step up.... at least in PAY.

any of you who truly believe the coolie carrier industry is fine. you are a fool! you're an even bigger moron if you have the "oh, that just goes along with the job!" mentality.
I don't think ANYONE here believes that THAT part of the industry is "fine." But, I know MANY here who got where they are because they stuck it out, at lower pay, to get the experience and contacts necessary to get BETTER jobs! And they didn't CRY as much as YOU have! :eek2:

YOU (and a few others) seem to think that you are ABOVE having to pay your dues in this industry. And you seem to relish the thought that you are "better than us" and you should have gone to the top right away.

You know? There are thousands of military men out there that started as "grunts." Life SUCKED for them, but they worked their way UP the ladder. And yes... they ALL understood that CHIT goes with the job when you are starting out! But, you wouldn't KNOW that. :hellno:

that mentality and the fact that many truckers out there most likely have less than a high school education are the reason why wages are so damn low.
Most of our soldiers today have no MORE than a H.S. diploma OR GED! You wanna "rag" on them, too?

Yes, trucking is an industry that hires people with education levels, or situations, that keeps them from being STOCKBROKERS! You got a problem with that?

I can't HELP but wonder, since you dress so well, and have a higher degree and such PLANS for your future.... just WHAT "forced" you to become a Trucker? And WHY did you have to start with a mega (coolie) carrier?

i'm so glad i got into a UNIONIZED-SPECIALIZED gig. i'll NEVER go back to that coolie carrier garbage.
I'm happy for you, too! But, like I said before.... just HOW do you think you GOT the qualificataions to GET this new gig?

The ONLY reason to HATE your beginnings, is because you are ASHAMED of them.... and therefore yourself! You've certainly shown that you are ashamed of everyone ELSE in the industry that hasn't reached YOUR level!

I don't know of anyone on here who "defends" the "coolie" carriers. But, we tend to defend the INDUSTRY and the progressive nature of it.

And.... I think I "GOT" your POINT! ANYONE who hasn't moved up the way YOU have is a FAT, stupid MORON! :hellno:

Your first post wasn't a critique of the INDUSTRY.... it was a defamation of the DRIVERS! SOME people think $500 a week is a good job!

I'm not defending the coolier carriers, I'm defending the industry as a whole, and there are PLENTY of opportunities to move up. But, there are SOME who may just be happy with what they've got! They put food on the table and get to shoot a defenseless DEER a couple of times a year! :lol2:
