More Guns = Less Crime

If you look at the statistics those states that have gotten rid of their anti gun laws and made it easier for citizens to protect themselves, violent crime rates have gone down. Florida used to have a high rate of car hijackings. When Florida made it easier for law abiding citizens to own and carry guns carjacking dropped dramatically. They did begin to concentrate on Canadians who flew into the state since they knew they would be unarmed. The media and communists would have us believe that more guns equate to more crime. The truth is in the numbers. Funny that you don't hear about these statistics from the media or politicians who would prefer us to not be able to protect ourselves.

Why mention Canadians? ANYONE flying into the state of Florida... or any OTHER state.... would be UNARMED!! It is against the law to carry a gun on your person while on ANY airline unless you are an air marshall. CCW permits don't pre-empt this law. :hellno::thumbsdown:

I have family who live in south Florida. I was also in the area after they changed their laws. Before the laws were changed, people were actually carjacked on the freeway at times. They would get in front of the victim and throw tires in front of their car. When they stopped they were carjacked. In fact, carjacking was rampant prior to them changing the laws. And they did target Canadians for the reason that I mentioned. They would sometimes follow them to their motel or follow them and fake an accident. One car would get in front of them and another would block them from behind. The perpetrators would then carjack and rob them. It didn't get much national media attention due to Florida not wanting to scare off any tourists. I have a family member who was a member of the police department at the time.

HOW did they know they were Canadians? Driving an American rental car and all!! Oh.... maybe they scoped them out at the baggage claim? Doubt it! REGARDLESS..... ANY passenger getting off of a national or international flight in Florida.... or anywhere ELSE..... could be "presumed" to be without his WEAPON!! ![]() You are trying to attibute something to American citizenship vs. what you call a SOCIALIST country to make a point! And you are failing in that effort.

Sorry, GMAN. Not buying it.

If you knew anything about tourism in south Florida you would know that there is a time of year where it is mostly Canadians who come into the area. I am sure that there were some Americans flying in that were also targeted. At the time, rental cars in south Florida had a sticker in the window which identified them as rental cars. If carjackers knew when flights were coming in from certain area's they could more easily target Canadians. If they had someone inside the airport watching it would be easier to target them. I don't recall all the particulars. It has been a number of years ago. But, that is what I recall happening at the time. I believe that they stopped putting stickers in the windows so that it would not be so easy to identify travelers. Again, that is from memory. In any case, carjackings did decline. You could call it a coincidence that shortly after they liberalized gun laws in Florida that violent crime declined.

hey hobo, as I used to live in west palm beach I can assure you plenty of ppl from Canada drive their OWN POV, not rental cars. Everyone assumes that since they are from Canada they fly, you know how many Quebec and Ontario license plates I seen in Fl, especially during the winter?
I remember the car jacking, they would work in groups and box cars in, sometimes they would block you with a box truck. Never had it happen to me personally but I remember when they said that this method had worked it's way from Miami up our way. BTW hobo, you break into a house in FL, you better pray they don't have a gun, they are allowed to shoot you before they even see if you have a weapon of your own.

Yet one of the many reasons long time residents of CA are taking the next train out of this soon-to-be dump.
It isn't so bad on the northern side of the San Gabriels and the eastern side of the Sierras, but young punks escaping "boring" life in the MidWest and regentrifying old gang territory in the LA area are pushing alot of that criminal element into the deserts. Meanwhile, public safety budgets are getting slashed at the same time feelgood politicians are pushing insane laws like fingerprinting everyone each time ammunition is purchased and the limit to how much you could purchase each month here. Never mind the 10-day waiting period required by the CA DOJ.

Not that you have EVER refered to statistics, and no I don't have any off of the top of my head but I'm sure in the 5000 plus posts by you there is at least one. That's kinda like saying, "the weatherman says it's cloudy and raining outside so there is about a 100% chance of rain". I know, a weatherman is a bad example but it's all I could come up with at the moment. I thought that whole sentence, coming from you anyway, was kinda silly. Maybe I'm reading it wrong.
