Hello brothers and sisters...I'm Marty. Been driving for 34 years and currently am an instructor at a truck school in Wa. State! 55 years old...have a wife of 30 years that has been great about putting up with a truck- drivers life. I Have 6 wonderful children...can't remember when I was home that long...lol. 21 grandchildren and one great grandchild!

I've been instructing for 5 years now...but the road becons. Will be out again in a few more weeks. Said to my wife..."Most people retire and then travel...Let's travel and then retire!" She thought it would be a great adventure....I thought it would be a great job. Heck...it's what I do....ya can take the driver out of the truck, but ya can't take the truck out of the driver!

God Bless All! Be safe out there!

I joined this post a couple of weeks ago. I am getting back into trucking after a little over a year.

I am retired military, 48, married (26 yrs), grown kids. I work in the high tech field and I am getting very tired of looking at a cube all day.

Well that's about it. BOL to all

Default I dig this web-site...

Just returned to driving from an 11 year sabbatical as a first time O/O. I started driving truck back in the early 80's at the age of 20 hauling cattle for a slaughter house in Chino. In 1986 I started hauling milk for C.M.P. After hauling milk for them for 7 1/2 years, the Co-Op broke the union and fired all 130 of us drivers in 1993. I then went to work for Smiths Food and Drug. After about a year and a half I left to go full time in to Real Estate.

After a few years in the business, my wife got her license and joined me in the R.E. world and we started to thrive as a team. After teaching her everything I knew about the business, she eventually kicked me to the curb and pretty much ran the whole business on her own. How cool is that?

After being semi retired at 38 and kicking back for 5 years, I came across an opportunity and took it. I bought my first truck and a set of bottom dumps in October. I'm hauling dirt right now in the Inland Empire. I'm planning on buying 2-5 sets of trailers in the next 4-6 months and then leasing them out to pullers. Right now the semi bottoms seem to be more abundant, so I'll probably end up with a mixture of semi's and double bottoms.

Hauling dirt is okay, but it sure is hard to keep my rig clean. I have a friend that hauls water, so I'm going to check that out and look in to finding a tanker. I think I'm a Tanker Yanker at heart. I'll keep the trailers moving dirt and material, but I think I'm going to tote some sort of liquid with my personal rig.

Anyway, this seems to be a great message board with many knowledgeable contributors. Being fairly green as an O/O, I'll be sure to ask all kinds of stupid questions? please forgive me in advance.

Thanks,

TCT

Default Hi

I am a fuel oil driver from Long Island. I found this board while googling haz mat information. I have a class B license with Haz Mat. (Is there a place on this board for those of us who don't measure up?) I have also worked on oil burner equipment.

I am married with two boys. My passion is serving God in whatever I do.

If there is one thing I have observed, it is that the truth does not conform to anyone's (mis) perceptions.

Default New to Class A Drivers & Message Board - Intro

I am new to the message board and would like to introduce myself. I have been driving for over 3 years, however, I my co-driver has 40 years experience.

I would like some feedback on a situation that happened regarding my last employer. Is this where I get feedback from other drivers?

Thanks[/img]
I drove a truck for 2 years, 1998-2000 for Stevens Transport before Type 2 diabetes and kidney damage took me off the road. I came across this site during a Google search and decided to join.

It was always my dream to be a truck driver and I got to do it for 2 years. How many people can say they actually lived out their dream. 8)
