You get paid to sit in your truck at the end of the day and watch porn? Do you get paid to sit in the truckstop and feed the poker machines? Do you get paid to sleep? Who the hell cares what the hourly rate is? I don't WORK the entire time I'm in the truck, as does no one else here. I work an average of 8-12 hours per day, and that time is reflected in my paycheck that I receive, which I'm quite happy with considering that it pays the bills and leaves extra to "play" with each and every week.

okay, my last check was for 2300.00 net.this is what I put in the bank, and it took me 4 days to make it, driving time was 30 hours total, so by the hour for just driving time was $76.66, hourly pay for ALL hours in the truck (53 including travel time home) was $22.77
I worked Mon-thru Thur, got home early Friday and am going back out this Friday
I dont know about anyone else, but this works fine for me
in case you are interested, it came out to .73 cents a mile after expenses.

freddog..you missed the point. what we are being told is that if one is not paid by the hour then there is no possible way that you can be happy in life and you have no life outside the truck. the only true way to happiness is to get paid for all hours away from home. also i see that if one does not get paid by the hour then said person misses birthdays and anniversaries and what not. but here is where i get cornfused. i dont get paid by the hour..but rather by the mile. i love..that may be strong. i like my job, i have a great life, i have never missed any birthdays, etc. but how can this be as i am not paid by the hour. ok freddog..i guess i missed the point of all of this as well.

"If you miss somebodys birthday, aniversary, or if you miss a holiday or graduation it's probably because you are working"

Maybe you missed the word IF....... Oviously this does not pertain to you. pay attention to what you are replying to. I know my spelling sucks.....

I get for all the time I am in the truck, you can break it down anyway you like. hourly, mileage, percentage, whatever..
Let me try this again.. If you are on any line EXCEPT line 1 i think drivers should be getting paid... It has nothing to do about being happy doing what you're doing, it has to do with being paid for being away from your family and friends. I have done OTR and at this point of my life it's not for me anymore. Someday maybe me and the wife will hit the road together, but for now i'm happy being home for more than 2 days a week or 2 days a month.

so if you are happy with what you are doing, that's great, but just because it's right for you doesnt mean it's right for everyone else

amen fred!!!!!!!!!!! this has been my point on this board since i came aboard to all of these guys but no one has gotten it so far. and if you miss birthdays and anniversaries because you are working, it is not because you are working..it because you either dont care about them days or are too ****ing stupid to take that time off....i am guessing it is the latter of the two choices.
