It only takes a handful of people to give us all a bad name. Just look at the urine bottles left in parking lots and along roadways. I have always tried to do the best job that I can. Most owner operators that I have known over the years seem to share my values about doing a good job. I have met a few who don't seem to care. I think that you can find that no matter what profession you are in. Since this industry has such high visibility, it is easier to see the problems caused by a few.

Chris - sorry that you got dealt that crap. It's not just the trucking industry, though, in which a lot people take little pride in their work. I guess it's gotten where you can only assign to companies that you know and trust. It's a shame. I am glad that they haven't found the truck on fire and plowed into a government building or school. People do things for more than just profit, these days.

It's just percentages. Do enough and eventually you will have these things happen. I just hate that with the steps we take that it got by us.
I'm involved in a few other businesses so i know that this type of thing happens everywhere.

Update
The carrier is up to 3 stolen loads in the LA area in two days including a load of pharms. out of San Bern. He also has over 120,000.00 in non-payments on a double brokerage scheme. At least CHP CTIP took the theft cases, the double brokering is a civil case.
