Need to vent
Had an outside carrier pu a load of tires on the 16th in Commerce,CA going to MN. Supposed to deliver on sunday the 20th. As of this morning there has been no contact with the driver or the company. Most likely a going out of business sale on the tires. The joy's of working with 1-2 truck operations.

The tire's were all chinese. I think G-Man is involved.:)

Sorry to hear. Could be that, could be that whoever it was decided they didn't wanna work for the company anymore and droped the trailer in a lot somewere and the owner is to afraid to fess up. Just hope the tires show up.

The carriers insurance has been trying to get hold of them since yesterday with no luck. Past experience doesn't bode well in these situations. The carrier is out of Boise,so if you hear of tires for sale cheap let me know.(after you've bought your share)

I tried a chinese-tire on my car... When the tread came off, it took out the signal light lens, and the left end of my bumper (plasitc, like so much of any car these days). $1000 worth of bodywork to be done to fix the damage. The only reason I went with that tire was because I had no choice at the time. Either that or run it on the rim. I think the rim would have been cheaper.:pissedoff:

Commerce, CA, just another mini-city within the LA-area that serves as a strict, distribution hub for any and everything.
Depressing as all one can imagine when being stuck in that area. If it wasn't for the outfit being out of Boise, I would've placed it on one of the many, no-name small-fry's that are concentrated in that area. |

Just a couple of truck company. No answers on any phones. Got a security video of the truck and driver from the shipper,at least it was the right company. Their insurance won't accept a claim for 30 days or sooner if they are caught selling them. They were not chinese tires, just had to put that in for you.

I would expect that tires are one of those items that could be easily sold, like cigarettes or alcohol. I remember being at a truck stop a few times in North Alabama and there always seemed to be a guy selling tires over the CB. He said that he got them from the Goodyear plant in Gadsden, AL and that they were seconds. I was always skeptical and never would buy them because I thought they might have been stolen. Apparently, quite a few others didn't feel the same way. He seemed to do a brisk business. There is a log of hanky panky going on in trucking, especially in some areas of the country. I have spoken to a few brokers who won't load a carrier unless they have been in business for a minimum amount of time. I talked with one who would not load a carrier unless they had a certain number of trucks.

Do they even know if it is the right company? Could someone have gotten their information and gotten the load acting as though it was this carrier? |
