I went cold turkey about 3 years ago and if I remember correctly food started to taste better at about 2 weeks. I had no idea smoking killed my sense of smell and taste so much. Keep up the good work, it does get easier as time goes along.

Congrats Snowman!
I always wondered what cold turkey had to do with quitting..

The etymology derives from the phrase talk turkey, in which someone deals matter-of-factly with a subject[1]. Some, however, believe the derivation is from the comparison of a cold turkey carcass and the state of a withdrawing addict — most notably, the cold sweats and goose bumps.[citation needed] It is often preceded by the verb "to go," as in "going cold turkey." Yet another suggestion of origin is that cold turkey is a dish that needs little or no preparation. "To quit like cold turkey" would be to quit in the same way a cold turkey is served, instantly just as you are without preparation

Congrats man. Let us know how you do. I tried earlier this year and lasted a whole three days. :angryblue: That damn truck is what kills me. What do you do to keep yourself from going crazy when you drive?

I know what you mean. I tried last summer and the first week I was fine but somewhere during the second week I caved. About 4 weeks ago I lost my road position (we slowed down) and I have been doing city P&D. So I figured I would try again since I dont sit and drive for hours with nothing else to do. I quit about ten years ago and after about 5 years I started smoking in bars etc. and one thing led to another and here I am trying again. It really is all will power, I think I have enough this time. You know the feeling you have when you're in a jam and you did it to yourself and all you can think about is "if only I hadnt done"? Well, I try and imagine myself being 60 yo and my doctor tells me I will be dead by the end of the year from either lung cancer or emphysema. It doesnt always work but its a strong motivator.
