Our group got lost in Canada once. It was the end of a 3 day trip where the temps were -20 and we were roughly 20 miles from our camp when we lost the trail at night. We were very exhausted and just wanted out of the cold and tempers were flaring trying to decide who to follow. Cost us about two hours but we finally made it back. Warm food and cold beer made everyone feel better again!

Were slow at work today so I'm home doing nothing.

When I was in field camp, we were making maps up in the mountains of northern NM and an electrical storm hit. My partner's compass started reading differently than mine. He freaking panicked and left me on the top of the mountain and started hoofing it. I was paranoid (them northern NM mountain dwellers do NOT play well with outhers...inbreds). I make it back to our meet-up but we waited hours for him and finally left. The professor took us back to camp and went back out for him. He was like 8 miles from anywhere he should have been. They busted his chops for leaving me. I told him...I know where we are. He lost his head about the matter. I HATE being out somewhere and having to trust equipment that may or may not be right. I've never been lost in snow, though...I bet that would be totally eerie.

I did the one thing you are never NEVER ever under any circumstances...

I went out alone. Scared me blankless..... but finally another party came along and told me how to navigate back to one of the main arterials, somehow I ended up on a narrow at the top of a mountain. It was so narrow a switch back I needed help turning the sled around.

Good job Snowman. It isn't easy. I had my last smoke in 1996. I was a two pack a day girl for quite a few years. I used meds to help and took up running and eating hot peppers.

Keep up the good work.
