Default GEEEEZ... some people are really effin DUMB!!!!!

So I was in the office at my home terminal this morning, and I overheard this guy discussing a service failure he received yesterday for not delivering his load on time.

Now get this....
The guy was at his final destination on time and sitting in his truck outside of the main entrance parked along the front gate.

THIS IDIOT DIDN'T DELIVER HIS LOAD ON TIME BECAUSE HE SAID HE WAS OUT OF HOURS EVEN THOUGH HE WAS WHERE HE NEEDED TO BE!!!!!!

Seriously.... just how freakin' dumb can a person get?

I'm sure someone will chime and say that he did the right thing since he was following "The Rules".

Definitely won't be me, since "the rules" would contradict that.

I think even hobo would agree with that one.

Can't be any worse than my ex dispatcher at Werner giving me a service failure for being late...my appointmet was 0800 at a buildng supply warehouse in Tolleson,AZ with a JIT load from Owens Corning I arrived at 0815...MOUNTAIN DAY LIGHT TIME... My dispatcher wrote me late because he would not listen to me when I expained it's always mountain standard time in AZ thus only 0715 because AZ does not practice day light savings...I got 2 more service failures that were bs to ...like showing up at set appt time ,and finding out Werner was supposed to be there 3 days b4 ,so they refused 2 load me ...Dispatcer wrote me a service failure
for late pick up...The BS of it was that the write ups stuck despite being fcticious... :?

Not just your company. Swift gets a bad rap sometimes(ok most of the time) but there are some dumb ass drivers working everywhere.

Howeso? Cite the reg!

I think even hobo would agree with that one.
Technically, Rev.... if the driver is outside the gate, on a road or highway or PVA and is out of hours, he cannot DRIVE his vehicle into the facility until he has had his legal break. The "multiple stop" exception does not apply, as it requires one to log the actual driving time even tho logging line 4.

But of course, because I am psychic and know the "spirit" of the regs, I would agree that this driver is an IDIOT! The regs are designed to keep drivers from driving ON HIGHWAYS where there is traffic when over hours!

There ARE many Distribution Centers that won't allow a driver inside their gates until one hour before their delivery time, and in a way, it wouldn't matter anyway if they were behind the controls and "driving" the vehicle.

But, if I'm anywhere NEAR the front gate of my consignee, I log it as in the dock! On time is on time! Myth_Buster and his band of logbook Nazi's be danged!

The problem here, is being AT the consignee but out of hours! Even if one is in the dock, there is no legal way to log a 10 hour (or 8 hour S/B) break while there! [usually.]

Poor trip planning, or inadequate logbook "coloring!"
