could you expand on this some what happens if you run out your hos and you are in harms way can you get a variance to get out of harms way?
|
Yes...It's called "Travel to Safe Haven" You write it on your log page, where you run out of hours, and the incident that you are getting away from. In Mal's case he would note "Hurricane Gustav". Nobody would say a word.
Gus is projected now to be heading for the Texarkana area.

In Mal's case he could travel to a truck stop in Longview TX on I-20 at US 79, or he could move to a truck stop in Nacogdoches, TX on US59. he could also cut through the woods back to I-30 and a truckstop in Mount Pleasant..
Either would get him away from the worst of the storm. He probably doesn't need to worry...except maybe for a ticket from the Linden PD. Their not truck friendly up there. Atlanta, Linden, Jefferson and Queen City all love to collect revenue from truck drivers and trucking companies.
Marshall is loaded up with Traffic cameras, and they are set up to capture the faces of the truck's driver, should a truck run a red light. Have a friend that got popped 3 weeks ago. Pic showed that he wasn't wearing his seat belt as well.

In order to use the "Adverse weather conditions" exemption, the person dispatching the run had to not know about the conditions at the time the run began, which is hard not to know these days. 8) 8)

I lucked out last night. When I got up this morning to take off, I was sitting right at the outer edge of the outer band. It was raining pretty good, but only for about 2 hours. Not a torrential rain - just a good rain. I didn't even encounter any heavy winds.
Sitting in Laredo now sweating...

Laredo...I hate that town. I would consider the desire to leave Laredo an emergency! I've had to hire guards to protect equipment on a job I was doing there!!! One time, my backhoe was stolen!!! They found it at the border! Someone stole my backhoe and roaded it to the border!! At least I got it back - which is more than I could say for nearly everything else!!

i was also in laredo for a 34hr restart and the truck was in the shop due to a breakdown as i was entering the terminal. it broke down at the entrance gate with about 15 trans-mex drivers behind me. it was a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong weekend there.
the cab drivers around that town are putos. i wanted to get some tattoos done on my back and possibly the back of my neck. had the appointment set up at a place that seemed the coolest out of the whole bunch down there. the cab companies gave me crap because i wasn't speaking spanish to them. "i no unyerstand diryekshuns" is all i was told, and then i heard "pinche gringo" in the background. mf'ers!
