I disagree. Those career politicians have been running the country for how many years now? We all know there are problems, and with all the years they've been up there, they have done nothing to fix those problems. That's because THEY ARE THE PROBLEM

I can give you a PERFECT EXAMPLE of a lawyer's decision.

A judge is a lawyer, right?

If you order a concrete slab that is to be 8' X 20', you expect to be able to measure the top of it and come up with 8 feet wide, and 20 feet long, right?

A customer hired a contractor to pour one exactly that size. The forms were set up, the concrete was poured and finished. The next day, when the customer looked at it, he decided to measure it. It was 20 feet long, but only 7 feet wide.

"You'll have to take it out and re-do it."

"That would be too expensive."

It went to court. The judge (a lawyer, right?)said, "YOU HAVE SEVEN FEET ACROSS THE TOP, AND A FOOT DOWN THE SIDE. 7 PLUS 1 EQUALS 8. YOU HAVE 8 FEET. PAY THE MAN." And, that is a matter of COURT RECORD at the Marathon County Courthouse in Wausau, WI.

Is that the kind of LEUDICROUS DECISIONS you want from the top offices??? The only way you will get rid of the problems is to REPLACE THOSE CAREER POLITICIANS.

I'm for "TWO-TERM-LIMITS" across the board.

Should have specified a little better.

8'W X 20'L X 1'D

Yeah, seems pretty stupid to have to be that specific, but in this day and age you have to over-simplify (aka "dumb down") EVERYTHING so that there isn't any discrepancy and isn't any room for interpretation.

Most cases that are taken to court are won or lost on based on how the judge interprets the law in relation to the specific case in front of him. If you remove as much of the interpretation as you can, the case will have to stand on its own merits and facts and less on what Judge Billy Bob thinks.

Windwalker...using a single idiotic decision by a backwater judge (in fact I'm callin urban legend on this one) and applying it to our top elected officials is a bit of a stretch. The funny thing is that I agree with you in that "career" politicians have several masters they have to serve...their voters and the fact they want to stay in office.....but you have to balance that with all the rookie mistakes and learning that has to occur simply to be ABLE to work all the rules/sub-committees etc that make up the day to day job of a politician.

Power corrupts...we see it every day. Just look at the young chicks that hang out with these fat balding politicians...why? Who's to say that you're inexperienced person suddenly facing all that power wouldn't act worse?

What's needed is more reform for all the special interest groups and the special riders that get attached to every bill so that a critical farm bill for example gets a rider on it giving money for a bridge in bum-f*** egypt.

But mostly I'm just playing devils advocate here... there's usually another side to every coin and I'm not sure which would be the worse side in a newbie vs career politician.

Just sayin

Like I said. Plain ole ordinary horse sense. If I want it picked apart, I'll feed the data into a computer.

If you want this country back on it's feet... Make oil prices take a NOSE-DIVE. And, lawyers have no idea how to do that.

Now just how are you going to do that? You want to nationalize the oil industry? It's a supply-demand thing...and you're seeing it happen in front of your eyes: world wide demand has weakened and the price has dropped. We can open up more Alaska drilling but that still a limited supply. Oil prices are a world wide commodity...we either use less and drive down prices or pay the market price.

And we can't stop speculation in the oil futures market either...(1) speculators will simply move to markets out of the US and (2) becuse Southwest Airlines "speculated" in the oil futures, they are paying less for fuel and are about the only airlines right now that is healthy. Are we going to take that away?

I would like to see more nuclear energy plants open up in the US. France gets 40%+ (or is it 60%) of their energy needs from fission...and if the Frogs can do it....then why can't we? I say vote for politicians that will push nuclear energy and increased oil drilling (with safety precautions for the environment of course).

And, that's exactly why I have said I was running for President.

$154 Billion "shot-in-the-arm" rebate to jump-start the economy? Bush may as well simply have written out the check to the oil industry. It was too late, and really didn't do any good at all. And, it was the wrong approach. What's more, they will not come up with a solution as long as CAREER POLITICIANS are making the decisions. THEY HAVE NEVER WORKED FOR A PAYCHECK. They do not understand the relationship between the cost of energy, the cost of food, and the weekly paycheck. Because they do not have that understanding, they do not know how to fix the problem.

We NEED to prove that we can produce hydrogen cheaply, announce to the world that we are capable of replacing fossil fuels, and serve the oil a dose of "HUMILITY". That, and that alone will bring down the oil prices, which can bring down the food prices, and give people the money to spend. Without the "masses" having money to spend on things besides food and energy, no other businesses can continue. That's what is blocking the economy, and that is what will cause the collapse.

It should be clear to anyone who collects a paycheck, just where it is being spent. Two thirds goes for energy, and one third goes for food. But, these are not part of the equation for your cost of living, so the politicians don't see it. And, as long as that is maintained, we're going to keep going in a downward spiral. More bandruptcies. More credit card de4faults. More mortgage forclosures. Fossil fuels are a MONOPOLLY that requires competition. The only other substance available to do that is Hydrogen. Electricity will not do that because it is too dependent on fossil fuels. So, the electric cars are not the answer either.

That is also why I need votes in this election. The nest election will be TOO LATE. It MUST be THIS ELECTION. And, without any votes, my voice will not carry any weight.

The good Professor is absolutely right, but he did not give the full account. It's a warning to be taken seriously, but he did not tell them just how important it is.

you still haven't told us your choice for vice president, I recommend the woman in the ad at the bottom of this page

No. Not her. If you want to meet her, all you have to do is sign up. But she's wrong for the job.

The fox has been in charge of the hen house, for far too long.

A major upheaval is needed, now.

You are saying that those that created the problems, are the ones to fix the problems...

That is begging for more of the same.

We are in big trouble, now.
Time is running out, fast.

We are already in a civil war.
And, it is a shooting war, with real bullets.
You don't hear much about it - maybe a short spot on the local news. But, it is real, and growing...

We have no real choice, at the moment, in the candidates for president. I'll not support nor vote for either one.

If we don't send a message in this election,

I don't think we'll have another chance.

I have doubts about this election, even if We The People do send a message.

Thanks for getting me pissed off already this morning!
Thanks for the compliment, but I ain't all that smart. This is just something I ran across, a couple of weeks ago.

I understand your dislike for both sides.
Both sides are liberal.

Liberals are the enemy within.
Liberals are the enemy of We The People.

It was my pleasure to piss you off, and I mean that, sincerely.
I will try to do it, more often, as I stumble across stuff.

I want to piss off the whole country - enough to vote in anybody conservative, that is not a career politician.

I just need some help, to develop a slogan, a sound bite and logo for Windwalker's campaign.

And, they're staying up nights, trying to figure out what else they can tax.
DID YOU KNOW.....
Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago... and our nation was the most prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt... We had the largest middle class in the world... and Mom stayed home to raise the kids. Today, Dad is working all the overtime he can get, Mom is working too, and the kids are raising themselves (and that about explains the SCHOOL SHOOTINGS, doesn't it?)

Now, I could also say that 100 years ago, women did not have the right to vote. I'm sure I'd have RebelDarlin' coming down on me, like real fast and hard. But, the fact is that 100 years ago, most of the politicians were FARMERS. Not lawyers. You talk about "conservatives", but the fact is that we simply need some PLAIN OLE COMMON HORSE SENSE back in the capitol. What qualifies a man/woman to be a politician just because he/she is an attorney?
Years ago, farmers understood that if he wanted the horse to pull something, he had to FEED the horse. So, as a politician, he also understood that if he wanted the American work-force to produce, he also had to "feed" them. Today, it's all a matter of "WE NEED..." and let the American people produce it. Look how they plan the budget. Someone thinks we're an ENDLESS SUPPLY. People drop off the end of the unemployment roles, and they say "we've created (XX,XXX) new jobs. But don't mention that the lost job was at Amocco Chemical with good pay and good benefits, and the new job is a "GREETER at WAL-MART" to pull a cart out of the line and offer it to you, with few, if any, benefits. These days, if you want benefits like health insurance, you have to be employed by a hospital. The good benefits moved to Mexico.

They don't have to attack us or go to war with us. All they have to do is BUY US OUT. We don't have the money to stop them. Dubai Ports has leased a couple of our shipping berths. The Indiana Turnpike has been "OUT-SOURCED" because the money was not available in this country. When is the last time you called about your credit card? What was the accent of the voice on the other end of the phone? India? And, it's going to get worse.
Nice work.
