I NEVER GAVE MY OPINION .... I was asking what others have learned ... not to get a history lesson or be told I can' t think for myself.

I wasn't asking to be 'set straight' I was asking for people who have done their homework on this .... because everyone see's things different ... but instead .... I recieved a history lesson and was told I couldn't think on my own and have a simple mind ....

It just wasn't bad enough to outweigh the bad news about the war! :roll: However, in 2003, a gallon of gas was about $1.50. Today, it is 3 times that! In 2006, I would guess it was just under TWICE that! But, WHAT statement did I make that provoked your DEFENSE of the Bush economy? Doesn't matter.... it is obvious you were listening to all the LIES the Bush administration was selling concerning job growth and economic stability, while ignoring the TRUE indicators of a recession!

Hmm..... I believe I just recently heard that we had, indeed, suffered 3 months of CONSECUTIVE negative growth.... the definition of a recession.... and that doesn't even consider the OTHER months that were negative but not "consecutive."

Once again, I don't recall making a statement that would precipitate this response, but I'll bite! Yes, it IS a volunteer army. And, to their great credit, SOME soldiers are voluntarily re-enlisting for multiple tours in Iraq! However, there are THOUSANDS more who are being "extended" in Iraq against their will, and many more whose enlistments have been "stop-lossed" to keep them on Active Duty instead of letting them get out after their term of AGREED enlistment! Thousands MORE of the National Guard are being "illegally" forced into long term active duty assignments against their agreements, and state's laws! Need I go on? We ALL know that Dubya is changing the rules as he goes along to avoid the inevitable DRAFT that is necessary to maintain troop levels for so many "fronts" of aggression..... a draft that he absolutely refuses to acquiesce to "on his watch!" :roll:

I don't DISagree with MOST of this, save the part about how Roosevelt's plans Prolonged it. And I'm not really interested in hearing the propaganda that you would provide to support "your" opinion (that someone GAVE YOU.) But, it is a FACT that the National debt and budget were in better "health" during, and at the end of, the Clinton Administration than they had been since Nixon took power, or have been SINCE Clinton. Numbers don't lie..... unless they come out of Dubya's mouth! :lol:

Unfortunately, once AGAIN, it will fall to the Democrats to PAY the BILLS for the excess of the Republican administration's WARS!! You will not see any real tax cuts under a Democratic administration! You will once again BLAME them for doing what they MUST do! And you will NOT see the truth about it all! But, he MAY just be able to do what Clinton did.... which was to raise the taxes necessary to pay down the debt and balance the budget. But, I somehow doubt it. Bush Sr. was a MISER compared to his SON! The debt is now SO HUGE, that even a Democratic magician might not be able to reduce it to any great degree! But.... we all know what will happen if we have MORE of the "Bush Economic Plan!" :shock: :roll:

I will "give" you that God taught (through the words of MEN against homosexuality,) but our country is founded on a separation of church and state. What happened to his resolve that Iraq MUST become a "democracy?"

What happened to his rationale for the economic stimulus checks. One day on TV he said "This will help Americans SPEND more, and this will help the ECONOMY." Then.... merely a month later, on TV he said, " Americans can use this economic stimulus check to make purchases.... or to defray the high cost of fuel!" :roll:

I could go on..... but, TIME IS UP!!! He's HAD 8 years too many.... and 2/3rds of the country (and most of the World) agrees that he is WRONG!!!

 

I am not quite sure how bashing Bush and the current administration makes Obama a better candidate. Best I can see from that tactic is people questioning the current administration and still wanting to know what Obama has to offer. As for as the OP's original question,
I may not have straight answers but my "observations" from the site the Rokk posted, Meet Barrack, it has left me with more questions now. I went on the site and started searching for his position or plans on a multitude of issues and things just don't add up for me. Now before I am cast a flippin' Republican let me make it clear I have no party affiliation and will keep it that way. The Reps are no more conservative then the Dems by definition.

The first issue that I looked at was Iraq. He says he has a timeline for Bringing Our Troops Home but then he says "He will keep some troops in Iraq to protect our embassy and diplomats". This has the potential to turn into what is misused here:
The emergency evacuation was not our combat troops on your t.v. it was the small amount of troops left to defend the embassy. Our combat troops had long since left, a troop redeployment so to speak. Obama does state however in that paragraph on his site "if al Qaeda attempts to build a base within Iraq, he will keep troops in Iraq or elsewhere in the region to carry out targeted strikes on al Qaeda". So what type of bases are we talking here? Full blown bases like we all think of here in the states won't happen but what do you think we are attacking right now in Iraq? Bases of operation by definition since al Queda don't run around with aQ tattooed to their forehead.

The next paragraph down on Obama's site says he will Press Iraq’s Leaders to Reconcile. Maybe he should lead by example. He never misses an opportunity to try to pin all the blame on the current administration or bash the Reps so it sounds like he has some reconciling to do himself.

The next paragraph down says he will work on Regional Diplomacy and he is going to do that by "This effort will include all of Iraq’s neighbors — including Iran and Syria." I bet Iran would love to tell Obama how willing they are to sit down and discuss playing nice, LOL. He finishes off by going against the second biggest concern of most Americans questioning the war, money rebuilding Iraq "and provide financial support for Iraq’s reconstruction." My question is if he is not going to see the war out then why should we pay to make it better?

The final paragraph is all about Humanitarian Initiative. Can anyone say Somalia? That was a humanitarian mission (initiative) I am all too familiar with. Anyone want to explain how that turned out? That too was another Dems mission so I guess that phrase "Those who fail to study history are doomed to repeat it" fits nicely here.

If you click on the issues tab at the top you can get his view on a whole host of issues but the more I checked the more confused I got. He plans on forcing employers to pay each employee seven PAID sick days. Government ran personal businesses is not something that will help any economy. I will guess that is eight hour days so employees will be given a week and a half "Vacation" pay right off the bat. Then he also wants to raise the minimum wage and "Employers that do not offer or make a meaningful contribution to the cost of quality health coverage for their employees will be required to contribute a percentage of payroll toward the costs of the national plan." For health care. When I see all of this I would ask the question is he also going to fund these businesses to move south or do you think all of that "Government control" of businesses will be enough to send them south? I guess that might be his way of controlling immigration, if he causes all of these "Government Controlled" businesses to move south then most immigrants will stay home and work there since there will be no employment opportunities up here.

There were a ton more "red flags" that I saw and most were funding many Government programs to "fix" all of these problems. That just leaves the question of where the Government will get the money for increasing these programs. Amazingly most of his quotes on the site were made in Iowa, the one I liked the best is "I went to Detroit, I stood in front of a group of automakers, and I told them that when I am president, there will be no more excuses — we will help them retool their factories, but they will have to make cars that use less oil."
I guess he really set them straight, LOL. Good thing their vote didn't count or we would be having this discussion about Hillary, LOL. Either way my point is not too many speeches prior to him wanting to be President so little experience coupled with the millions of questions I have, I won't vote for him. I am not too thrilled with McCain either so maybe I'll just vote twice in 2012.

It don't but Obama's site is full of how "Christian" he is. Check out his Barrack Obama on Faith, he picks a ton of scripture to quote. So does he just pick and choose what parts to believe?

I would start with that part about taking care of widows and children and go from there.

Just as I made no claim about a timeframe, NEITHER did I say those were our combat troops being evacuated OR doing the evacuation from the embassy. :roll:

IIRC, those being evacuated were a mixture of embassy personnel, American businessmen from the surrounding area, and some South Vietnamese who had helped us, and feared for their lives! (oh yeah... AND the Embassy Guard unit.)

Granted, I can see how my including the original line about "pushing us out" in a paragraph about revolutionary "battles" might cause one to make the assumption I was referring to our COMBAT troops. What I SAID.... and what I meant..... was that they pushed US (America) out!"

When you have to evacuate from the roof of your embassy with armed throngs at your gates, YOU (as a country) are being "pushed out!"

Golfhobo take it from SOMEONE that lives in OBAMAland that he is elected he will be WORSE than Bush Jr is. First of all in additon to gettting rid of Bushes tax cuts he is rasing the Capital Gains taxes to 28% plus raising both the Limit and rate on the SS tax. Anyone that makes over 150K a year adnd that includes O/O that are not incoparated will have a TAX RATE OF 60% minamum. those makeing 75K will be paying 50% those under 50K will still see an increase up to 45% and that is from figuring out figures from HIS OWN WEBSITE.

He also is threating to INVADE Pakistan who has Nuclear weapons BTW to force them to help us in the Global war on Terror. The President there is hanging on by the skin of his teeth already do we need anything to tip the platter so to speak. Just when things are improving and the reconcilation is happening in Iraq he will pull all troops out in less than 16 months leaving them wide open for Iran to take them over. He refuses to make Iran stopping erichment of Uranium any part of any sanctions that even Russia and China support that.

As to him being for CHANGE. YEAH RIGHT!!!!!!! He comes from the same mold as Richard Daley he is part of the CHicago machine. When he was a State Senator here in IL his now convicted buddy Rezko got goverment backed loans to fix up low income housing guess what IT WAS NEVER FIXED. People in houses manged by Rezko and others in Obama's district went thru the winters with NO HEAT rats crawling all over the place and sometimes WITHOUT WATER also. Yet they complained to the CIty and COunty and nothing was done why Obama and Daley had told the Inspectors that the tenants were lying it took SOMEONE FREEZING TO DEATH BEFORE THEY DID ANYTHING. Obama had more PRESENT VOTES than ANYONE IN THE HISTORY OF THE IL STATE SENATE over 400 in the 9 years he was there.

 

If this was really a post and discussion on politics it might have some validity,the truth is easy to see; this post was started and based on hate. No big deal thou, that is simply the way of the world. The same as if a discussion was started on DNA which can easily prove that the first people on this planet were black and that all people are decendents of a black man and woman. Considering that; now Obama does not seem so important, bring on the hate and read it and weep. Oh, and yes I have no doubts that many here can pull apart the truth and facts of DNA, and let me add---have a good day.

What is the title of this thread? I don't have access to it right now, as I'm in the post mode, but I believe it was something like....

"Let me get this straight" or

"Do I have this straight?" yeah.... I think that was it!

Supposedly, someone who claims to have NO IDEA what Obama is about, started a thread ASKING... "Do I have this straight?" and then proceded to post some internet SLUR campaign against Obama, under the "guise" of "just wondering" and wanting someone ELSE to do some research that was EASILY available on Google to anyone who could "google up" the CRAP "they" posted! :shock:

Then.... when I answered that they did NOT have this straight, and took offense to the blatant character assassination CRAP that was posted, they took offense!

Obviously..... I should have let it go with the "simple answer" I provided, which was NO!

But, I just couldn't leave it there! I REACTED to the CRAP which this person "parrotted" onto this site, and made an all too common mistake of mine, in that I assigned "responsibility" to the poster for the CRAP they had posted! :shock: :lol:

The fact that someone PARROTS crap onto this site in THEIR own thread, does NOT necessarily mean THEY believe or support it! It does NOT automatically identify them with the party or persons who STARTED this CRAP!

And, as such, I had NO RIGHT to assume "support" or "assention" for this CRAP to the person who posted this CRAP!

Futhermore, considering the attending question this person asked in addition to posting this CRAP, I did not even qualify to answer this CRAP OR the question, because I cannot post links to support any personal research I have done to dispell this CRAP!

So, this person says they did not ASK me to "set them straight," although their thread was titled "Do I HAVE this straight?" They SAY they were ONLY asking for information they couldn't find for themselves ABOUT Obama, though they FOUND this CRAP that they posted.

Had this person asked.... "do the people who came up with this CRAP have it straight?" I might have given the SAME simple answer, and then proceded to flame those who originally came up with this CRAP!

But, because the person who started this thread, and PARROTTED this CRAP, made no attempt to disassociate themselves FROM this CRAP, I fell into the faulty assumption that they BELIEVED this CRAP, and further made the unfortunate leap of logic that IF they supported this CRAP, they must BELIEVE this CRAP.... and therefore they must be of the type of simple mind that would come up with this CRAP or repeat it!

Not that I believed for ONE MINUTE, that the person who posted this CRAP actually AUTHORED this CRAP.... but, I relied on the history of this site to believe that people who post such CRAP, generally believe and support such CRAP!
