Expect to pay in the range of $300 for a 7" touchscreen monitor. The 8" monitors are actually a hair cheaper (http://store.mp3car.com/category_s/28.htm)

Here's a bunch of them:

I have this one, except mine doesn't have the video inputs (don't need em anyway):
http://store.mp3car.com/Xenarc_700TSV_p/mon-004.htm

This is the 1st monitor I had and I loved it - right up until I broke it:
http://store.mp3car.com/Lilliput_7_V..._p/mon-001.htm

This is the one I recommend - if I was replacing my current one, it's the one I'd buy:
http://store.mp3car.com/2008_Lillipu..._p/mon-016.htm

The monitors come with a stand so you can mount it to the dash. The stands have double-sided tape on them, or you can put a couple screws to hold it more securely (which I had to do).

My monitor is mounted on a custom mounting plate that I made. The plate is 1/4" Lexan with a piece of steel mounted to it to let the monitor "slide" onto it. The Lexan mounting plate is then held to the sun-visor with heavy duty Velcro straps I had sewn onto them.

There are a couple cables coming off of the monitor (either 2 or 3) depending on the monitor. The Lilliput's have 3 cables (VGA, USB, Power) and the Xenarc's have 2 (VGA/USB combo, Power). Both models of the monitors come with the 12v DC cigarette lighter plugins.

The cables come across from the monitor to about mid-dash. They then go to the windshield and down in the center of the windshield. My truck is a Volvo, so it looks like it's a split-windshield now instead of a one-piece.

I had to add 2 extension cables to the computer for the monitor to work. Remember, my laptop stays in the sleeper. I bought 16' extensions for both USB & VGA. I also have a 4 port unpowered USB hub in the front of the truck, giving me a place to plug in my 2nd keyboard and GPS receiver.

I ran the extension cables into a plastic split-loom harness (it now looks like one big cable) and ran it along the passenger side of the truck, behind the cabinet, then into the computer.

I finally decided to make a web page describing my system in detail, along with links to everything I use. If you want to check it out, here's the link:
http://www.freewebs.com/malaki86/

I think I've got everything listed in it.

just got off the phone with delorme and yes the LT-40 antenna will work with vista BUT the serial port emulator WILL NOT work with vista.

so if you have vista you can use delorme but you can't use third party gps software like drivers daily log with the delorme until they put out a vista

You can also do a Google search for "Xport3" - that's a free GPS sharing software

I received my Delorme Street Atlas 2009 Plus last week, and I've been playing around with it. So far, I like it a lot better than 2006. The GPS antenna works a lot better. I managed to pull a GPS signal while sitting in my living room. I've done 2 trips with it so far, and it's been accurate on both. I like the "ETA" feature that tells you what time you'll arrive, rather than giving you hours and minutes until arrival. The 3-D view is really easy to read. It is designed to be able to be used with smaller touchscreen monitors, and gives the option of disabling excess graphics to allow the maps to be larger. The voice works with Vista (2006 didn't). The maps are heavily updated, and a lot more accurate than 2006 was. I love the integrated White Pages and Yellow Pages: It does so much more than the old "POI" system ever did.

I give Delorme SA 2009 Plus 4 1/2 lightbulbs. :idea::idea::idea::idea::?:

Extremely user friendly. It will take you a few minutes to figure out the basics. I've run a few trips in the truck with it now, and am extremely happy with it. The new GPS receiver actually works inside the truck too (which the old one never could). I got it for less than $100, but that was because I was already a user of it. It's well worth the $100.
