I get it quite often, mostly from kids, but sometimes even from adults.

I really hate disappointing them, but I can't oblige.... because the horn is right under the bunk..... and my codriver is asleep!

Its not a good idea to oblige sometimes...If the driver is not aware or another driver nearby- someone could get startled and wreck, possibly placing liability on you! Some big carriers forbid this fun practice.

I usually do it. I used to do it when I was a kid and remember what a charge I got out of it. I have children, college kids and adults do it. They all seem to get a thrill out of it.

I try to honk when asked.... I would rather have that gesture than some other hand gesture telling me I'm #1. It gives the kids a quick thrill.

Like other have said I'll blow the horns as long as it doesn't scare the crap out of somebody else or confuse another motorist. I have this issue too when driving fire trucks in a parade. Obviously the air horns on the fire truck are quite loud and if I see a baby or even an older person that's covering their ears I won't blow them. They are way too loud and meant for people to hear inside their vehicles. Sometimes there's a break in the crowd for a little bit and an opportunity to use them but most of the it's just flashing lights and waving. As far as my truck the factory air horns under the bunk because of the condo sleeper is really lame and embarrassing to use for entertainment, but I still do it once in awhile.
