I'm thinking, after I finish this run to Charlotte, then taking Milk to Corpus Christi, bobtail to Houston and run gasoline back to Charlotte.

After I get to Anchorage (~580 to go) I'm gonna have to sit there for awhile probably. I go into the hospital on Wednesday for my knee surgery, so I can pretty much count on not being able to do much of anything for that 24-36hrs. Just have to play it by ear.

I'm on a contract run. I run for Canadian Freightways. Here's a couple of postings from the drivers on the same run:

10/29/2007 3:05:23 AM: Barneybasher: You have completed your route to Anchorage on time. You collected $11,223.03 of which Canadian Freightways collected $1,010.07 from that total to leave you with a total collection of $10,212.96. Your driver rating is now 19.12. You may start a new route at this time or view your driver profile for more details.
10/28/2007 10:44:12 PM: Sairz: Driving this route of Tires from Panama City to Anchorage will earn your driver $3.05 per mile, a total of $18372.03 for the entire route.
10/28/2007 10:02:56 PM: Mike3fan: Driving this route of Tires from Corpus Christi to Anchorage will earn your driver $2.45 per mile, a total of $9772.20 for the entire route. Your company specializes in this cargo type so you will receive a 5% bonus for delivery.

oh ok, I'm going to have to do some more looking around cause the run I'm on now pays .57  I thought that was normal for the game, my first run was like .49 a mile. I look to see what a city demands and pick from those cities. Any other pointers?

Oh no, in the world of simulated trucking I'm a cheap freight hauler

You can also look in the cargo statistics for the "demand" loads - http://www.trukz.com/stats_cargos.asp - the cargo marked with a red star are the highest paying loads.

Even if you can't get a good contract run, always run a cargo that is supplied by the city you're in to a city that demands the cargo - that pays higher. For example, don't take a load of tires to a city that demands fruit and appliances. Right now Cotton is the highest demand, with it paying a base rate of $0.55cpm with a $500 delivery bonus. It's available in Atlanta with deliveries available in Charlotte, San Salvador, Jacksonville and Churchhill. For someone just starting out and in a slow truck, that's a great run from Atlanta to either Charlotte or Jacksonville.

Also, make sure that you keep your FP's at 10 or under (when it's at 10, don't continue on). You'll have less wrecks/breakdowns. Also (once you have a faster truck) don't go more that 5mph over the speed limit and never exceed the top weather speed.

Keep an eye on the cost of fuel. I find that it's normally cheapest to refuel when I'm at about 3/4-1/2 tank. The lower your fuel level, the more they charge for fuel.

I try to always do repairs and refuel when I hit 10 on my fp's.

A long range goal is this (for the newer drivers):
1) better truck - I suggest something in the $20-30k range.
2) air filter - increases fuel mileage
3) tires - increases the trucks condition
4) An even better truck with addons for fuel mileage and truck condition
5) after you hit this point, start really saving your money and go for the double/triple endorsements. You can haul more freight and make more money.

Right now on that list I'm working on #4.

That's what I'm doing, and I thought the .57 was a good rate because of that till I saw 2.45.

To get a contract, you have to be working for a company.

Here is a list of the current contracts and who has them: http://www.trukz.com/contracts_working.asp

These are the contracts that are up for bid:

Woke up this morning and SEE got 2 contracts.

And I just happen to be heading to Charlotte. Now, I guess I'll be taking electronics to Yellowknife, and books back to Charlotte.

Cool Rosty, now I can save your driver.

Malaki86, good luck with the surgery.
