Sooo...Anyone have a Dodge Ram??
Looking to possibly buy a 2006 Dodge ram 1500 4x4 quad cab tomorrow (wednesday). Hemi motor.
Other than I'll get shitty gas milage, and sometimes known for bad transmissions, does anyone know of any other big "beware" things to watch out for on this vehicle?
I'm mainly a GM guy, but pretty good deal on this truck and its growin on me quick...

I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 with a V6,not a V8,and get HORRIBLE gas mileage. Watch out and ask the dealer about recalls on defective wheel bearings. Other than that, the gas mileage itself is bad enough.

My Dodge Ram is a 2004, Quad-cab Diesel Dually HD 3500 with a 4 speed automatic, and 8' bed. My wife gets 22 mpg with it, and I get 17 to 18 mpg  Has a little over 50K miles on it....and no problems thus far. Truck is strong as an ox....pulls our 30' travel trailer like its not even there.
Keep a raw egg between your foot and the gas pedal and your mpg will be ok.... ride it rough and you'll pay at the pump....ouch.

I'm driving a Dodge in my current Job with a Goose neck trailer. It does not have the turbo but for pulling 16000LBS of Granite it does good on the MPG. Could get worst. Almost did a complete trip this weekend on one fill up. And that with Pulling Mountains with a load. Leaving out tonight FOr a Ga, Fl, and over to Houma, La. in it.... This is till they get the Freightliner crane on then I switch to the 10 Wheeler.

I have an 04 Ram 1500 with the Hemi, but its a 2Wd. Have not had any problems. Towed as much as a 24' enclosed trailer with 3 big bikes in it. Towing as low as 8mpg, highway about 17/18 I think.

I have a 2002 1500 Dodge Ram V6. When I bought it had only 9000 miles on it! I now have 165,000 miles on it. I don't keep up with fuel mileage. I commute to work daily (145 miles round trip). Haven't had any problem with this little billie goat. It seems to run better when I am pulling a trailer? Alot of guys at work drive dodges and the only comment I ever hear is that GM gets better fuel mileage.
Personally I like to look of the Ford F250 but I would buy another Dodge in an heartbeat!

get a FORD. For real you should look into a diesel. I know its a extra 5,000 on the pricew but you will not be sorry. I had 1 gas truck and 2 diesels after that. Once you get a diesel you will never go back to gas. My dad had a dodge for years it was a good truck.

I had an 05 1500 hemi slt sport package 2wd. Only put 5100 miles on it in 8 months( I was otr at the time). Shiny black,,looked great,,,tranny started slipping at exactly 5000 miles. Sold it 2 weeks later as the dealer was being a total ass about fixing it. "we can't find anything wrong with it" Really?! Why is your mechanic stuck in the bay door trying to rock the truck out? I got 11 mph regardless of the truck being on the highway or city. $70 bucks to fill the tank. A buddy of mine has gotten 2 of the 2500 cummins. He was so sad aboutt the first one he sold"due to an illness" that he ran out and bought another one. He never had any problems with his.
