I currently drive an 02 1500 sport with a 4.7 I've always driven a Dodge p/u of one sort or another. This is the only one that I wouldn't replace if it got stolen or crashed. The fuel mileage is terrible 18 mpg (can) driving slow and it rides ROUGH!! We took the overload springs off the back to try and calm the rear axle hop on R.R. tracks and the like. It improved it a lttle bit but I'll be amazed if the dash isn't squeaking and rattling like a bucket of bolts in a few more years. I almost bought a 05 with the Hemi but thought the 4.7 would get better mileage. Now I almost wish I got the 05 because the mileage sucks anyways. This winter I'm driving an 88 Chev van and if the van gets the same fuel mileage the Dodge is GONE next summer.

You all talk about the crappy milage on these newer Rams..... 8) HA you want to talk crappy milage? My 99' Ram 2500 V10 gets about 10 mpg empty and about 7-8 mpg when pulling my 5th wheel trailer. My husband and I couldn't sell it if we wanted to. It's a great pickup (not had any problems with it ...knock on wood) but we hardly every drive it cuz of the milage. So go on about your crappy 18-20 mpg.... My pickup passes everything but a gas station.

Wow, I'm glad I don't have the V10 in my 98 Ram 1500. I get 15mpg city and 18 highway out of it. 8)

And it only has 55,000 miles to boot.

Funny. My 97 Ram 2500 4X4 has a V-10 and automatic. I have 159,000 miles on it. I get 16 mpg highway, about 13 in town. She gets 12 towing cars on trailers all the time. I've put brakes on this truck. Thats it. No alternators, transmissions, fuel pumps....nothing. I love that old truck.

I bought a 95 1500 5.9L auto new off the lot. I put 486,000 miles on it and only had to do regular maintenance and a few brake jobs. The transmission finally went out so I traded it in. I pulled horse trailers all over Colorado with it, never a problem with a hill. I'd usually get around 18 city and 22 highway empty, and 12 to 15 with a four horse trailer full of hay.

I'd get another one in a heartbeat.
