Planning a trip to Tennessee
I'm planning a trip down to TN, leave around the 20th give or take. It's a sight seeing/scouting vacation. I getting real tired of MD and the crowds. People.........there the worst.
Anyway I was thinking about running to SC and then take 129 into TN. I've heard a lot about it and would like to see it, might do the Cherohala instead. Then I'd like to look around some. I went through my map program and did a route from Tellico Plains over to Memphis (maybe) and then back up to MD.
Any suggestions on some good bbq joints? I like it sloppy
Any suggestions for things to do or places to go are welcome too. Also where to look for lots to build on. Not Nashville though, I'm trying to get away from crowds.

Hmm.... I just did a "quick" look at my atlas, and couldn't find a hwy 129 in South Carolina, and of course NO highway from S.C. runs directly into Tennessee, since they don't share a border.
Could you be a bit more clear??
And, BTW.... what is it about Tennessee that makes you want to relocate there??

ops: NC, sorry for the confusion. Instead of 129 (Dragons Tail) I've decided to do Cherohala for sure.

Just checking it out, nothing written in stone. Were going to start looking around and this is just one trip of a few. This one is the wifes idea, I let her go first.

It depends on what day it is. If it's Saturday then they're heading to the game. If it's Sunday then it is hunting. If it is Monday thru Friday then they are heading out to pick up trash on I40.

A really beautiful ride is to go down I85 to exit 11 in SC and then turn left on 24. follow to 76 and turn left, follow 76 through Clayton and Hiawasse Georgia. In Morganton Georgia Ga, turn right on Highway 60, when you come into Copperhill Tn, stay straight on 68 and follow to 64 west, follow 64 west along the river to Cleveland Tn. then you can continue to I75 or wherever you want to go.
If you go that way there is a bbq place on 129 in Blairsville, you would turn right on 129 and go up to hiway 325 and turn left, its there on the corner, very good place..
