Default Watching hurricanes

I love watching these hurricanes. I went through two of them in the navy and got hooked, I guess.

And here's a great way to "watch":
http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/ The National Data Bouy Center has placed weather bouys all over the world and you can get a reading from wherever you like.

But, alas, the two bouys I wanted to see are out of service. On the other hand it is headed right for another good bouy, 42056!

It sucks that these storms ruin lives with their destruction, but they are so cool to follow as they form to being a full blown hurricane. Seems odd that the season is half over and things are just now starting to crank up.

I'm finally going to Jamaica, or at least my family and friends keep telling me I am. :? :?

At long last, there's a hurricane with my name. 8)

Im a big fan of looking at the data from the bouys too.
What would be really cool if they put webcams on each bouy

I'll stick with watching tornados...and I've seen a few of those. I like to watch close up, but at least with them, I can get out of the way.

And if you can't get out of the way, ducking seems to work well with tornadoes, hurricanes not so well.

Me and a buddy have been looking at going on a storm chasing tour next year. We always chase storms anyway when one is near, but I think it would be a blast to go out and spend a week with the professionals

Well... I didn't have to CHASE "Hugo!" He came right through my front door! Of course, I was sitting on a lounge chair with a beer and a candle just DARING him!

I LOVE storms like these!! Like another poster said, it's a shame they ruin so many lives, but I LOVE experiencing them! They bring me closer to God, or what some people think of Him, and they put me in my place.... which is not an easy task for God OR Mother Nature!

I HAVE turned and drove right INTO the path of a Tornado, once. I was surveying for oil and HAD to go back and get a $30,000 piece of equipment. It was close!

Gee.... I hadn't heard about a hurricane named WildK9! Of course, I doubt I'll ever see one named HOBO, either!
