I need to find out how to get a job up there. Those guys are making a killing. Hugh is up to 42,000 and still another episode left.

If you do get a job up there and that's your truck's picture on your avatar I sure as hell wouldn't take it up there. That's a good looking truck! 8)

Default The last show is this Sunday I think....

Funny Continental about Hugh having more chance to fall threw the ice! I laughed for quite a while over that one. As far the previous commit before mine. (I don't know how you guys post over peoples commits on your posting). But I don't think it would be all that hard to get on with Hugh's company. I went thru Werner training with Drew and again I'll say a lot of people not just myself were pretty amazed at some of the stuff he would say in class etc. He didn't seem like he was playing with a full deck. Although now a lot of guys might want to be on a tv series so Hugh might get some better drivers to chose from. I know I wouldn't freeze my behind off for no amount of money.

You just click on the QUOTE icon at the top right of a post you want to respond to - if you want to include it - like I just did.

OR.... If you just want a "partial quote," you highlight and copy that part right out of the post you are reading, then hit reply at the bottom. When it opens the Post a Reply box, you just position the cursor, right click and PASTE, like this:

(I don't know how you guys post over peoples commits on your posting)

THEN.... if you want that to show in a blue box, you just highlight it in YOUR reply box, and then click the QUOTE tab just above where you are typing. Then it comes out like this:

(I don't know how you guys post over peoples commits on your posting)
Is that what you were asking?? If so, hope this helped. I think there is also a "sticky" somewhere on the site about how to do it.

Hugh reminds me ALOT of one shop foreman I had while driving. He never wanted to fix ANYTHING and everything was the drivers fault. How can a ECM failing be driver error also with the cold up there metal will just break. Blaming a driver for a broken spring from a hole covered with snow sorry if he did not see it until he had no time to miss it also coolant leaks at -40 I want my coolant in my motor not on the ground. The fact Hugh refused to fix his heater shows me all he cares about is MONEY not his DRIVERS HEALTH. If you look Hugh was driving a 2001-2 International while his drivers were struggling in mid 90's Freightliners so who made sure he had the better equipment to the determent of his drivers.

If Hugh is so tough, why didnt he just trade trucks with Rick and drive the one with no heater..

I don't buy it. It came loose just feet from where he hooked up. If it was that loose he should have noticed when he hooked it up. I don't know about you but when I hook up the lines I always check to make sure they aren't falling apart.

I also seem to remember them securing it with some black strap or something... I guess I just assumed one of the hands was bent or something and loose.

In any event I still say driver error.
well, the safety man who was there while we werent inspected it and said it wasnt the drivers fault, he seems to be a real hard-ass when it comes to safety, so I believe him, maybe you should go into business with Hugh, he says everything is the drivers fault, including a computer going bad. I dont see how anybody can work for that guy.
it also didnt happen just feet from where he hooked up, it happened going down the hill on the Ingraham trail, he made it quite a ways before it happened. I had recorded the show and watched it again just to be sure
I guess I had it wrong then. No need to get so defensive! I thought he was still in Yellowknife when it happened.

TJ just doesn't seem like a good driver to me. What do I know though? I'm just a rookie myself with only a couple years experience.

didnt mean to offend you, I just meant that if we havent been there and done it, we cant really know what it's like. and frankly, I dont have the guts to try it.

Good luck if you are not Canadian, you would have to get a Canadian work visa, my uncle from Edmonton trucks up there, there used to be more money in it years ago.

That's the link for the DVD of the entire 1st season. Going for $35. If you pre-order now, they will toss in the free DVD of the Modern Marvels: Ice Road Truckers which shows how it all started. That DVD alone is $25.
