Where do you live??....And what ARE you doing working in trucking?? If you had a CPL or ATP rating, along with type ratings for Lears or Citations, with those credentials, I know several different corporations and flight management companies who would kidnapp you if they thought they could get away with it!! Aviation is a horrible career when it comes to job stability. Originally, the "plan" was for me and a buddy to start a jet management company. But that fell through due to a couple of DWIs. ( not me...the buddy) At that time, the only jobs I was being offered at the airlines didnt pay crap. I went to work for Pratt & Whitney, selling jet engines. Paid well, but because of job cuts, I lost that position. Decided to go back to Business school and make myself a little more well rounded. Living in NW arkansas if you want to make pretty good money in corporate business, you most likely are going to work for either, Walmart, Tyson or JB Hunt. Worked for Walmart for awhile, however Jb came along and offered me a better paying job with better benefits....so 5 years later Im still here. I do see where you are comming from, but private aviation & fleet management, along with the mushrooming of fractional ownership programs, will continue to grow in the years to come; also, the introductions of VLJs will further feed that growth!! Glad that you're happy at JB!!

Hey sheepdancer.....DRIVERS, Not recruiters. Get your CDL, then you qualify. (at least you could drive for JB Hunt then, unless your fellow recruiters wouldn't hire you on. You could make great money...and, according to you, one driver has over 2 mil. in his 401K....And we all will welcome you to the driving world....yea, that's the ticket)
Ive been putting money in a 401K for 21 years. I have plenty. Get my CDL and then I qualify for what? If I wanted to be a truck driver, I would get my CDL. Its not my choice of careers to be a driver. Perhaps you dont realize this Cluggy, but in this country we have the freedom to CHOOSE whatever career we want. In this country we also set our own pay. Is that too hard of a concept for you to understand, clugg? Every single one of us CHOOSES our own pay.

I have a BA in Foreign Languages.
In this field, think of it as something like a Class C CDL with no hazmat endorsement. Since about the only thing you'd ever actually haul with a Class C is hazmat anyway, it's just not good for much of anything in of itself. |
