From the poll on wackbag, the average number of units being cancelled per subscriber is 2.025. So, now we're talking about 20,050 xm units turned off.
I seriously doubt the numbers are even close to that. When talking about people online, I would say about 2/3 of the people who said they cancelled, really didnt. They just wanted to act like they are part of something. Its kind of like the great truckers strike, or a few days ago when we were supposed to not buy gas. Everyone talks a big game when online, but not many too people really ever do anything about it. Sure a lot of people cancelled. Probably a couple of thousand or so. But like I said, most of those people will be back in 30 days. And even if opie and anthony really got fired, a lot of those people would go back anyway.
As far as the merger, this suspension probably helps the merger. The people in the govornment are the ones who have to approve the merger. And they are going to want and expect a little control over whats on the air. Now, say opie and anthony get fired and then the merger still happens. Even people who cancelled their XM are going to probably go to sirrius. Then when the merge happens.....No loss or not much of one.
This is why the stock is going up pretty much today. Investors see this suspension as a little helpful for the merger. Investors care WAY MORE about the merger than opie and anthony. The possible merger is what makes this stock a risky but good buy right now.

Personally I think one of the funniest things about all this is that all those Opie and Anthony fans thing they can actually bring the stock down by cancelling. Investors are much smarter than that. They are most likely seeing the suspension of O & A as a good thing. Investrors like to see Corporate leaders who are in control of their employees. Investors also know that all those people who are cancelling, will be back in 30 days and all those people who are smashing their radios will be buying new radios. XM stock hasnt been doing that well for months and months. But right now its still rated a buy with most analysts. I said a few months ago that the bottom would be about 10. I was pretty close. I got into XMSR with a small amount of shares at about 12. The only reason i did that was just in case the merger goes though. Its a gamble but it could pay off big time if they do merge.
In fact today the stock is having a great day up about 1.5%.
It's nice to know that someone else is looking at this with a clear mind, and can see the obvious.

It just sucks that it's you. :P

Ok - call the PC police now and ban me.

Certainly skated the edge. Very uncalled for.
What did you expect from someone who proclaims that they have a right to say whatever they want, about whoever they want, whenever they want , and to any degree of vulgarity that they want...?

Uncensored by whom? They claim adult content and uncensored (adult) language, They do not claim to allow every and all language. And they do not claim that all the channels are music free.. you need to cancel your subscription... you obviously don't even listen that well.

And so did XM, thats why they have a class action lawsuit against them for claiming they have commercial free programing. Were losing sight of this thread, it isn't about me supporting XM. I don't. I canceled my XM subscription. I agree with you Rev, I don't like XM either.

"Commercial-Free" Lawsuit against XM allowed to proceed

Sue everybody!Matthew Enderlin's lawsuit, alleging that XM Satellite Radio falsely advertises its music channels as 100% commercial-free, can proceed in U.S. District Court.

Enderlin's suit filed in January 2006 alleges XM's claim that its music channels are free of commercials is "false, misleading and deceptive" because the channels' programming includes "promotional and advertisement segments."

Enderlin alleges the company's commercial-free promise violates the Arkansas Deceptive Trade Practices Act and similar statutes in 41 other states and the District of Columbia. He is seeking punitive damages and a court order that XM Radio no longer advertise its music channels as commercial-free.

He also is seeking to have the suit certified as a class-action suit so all XM Radio customers can be considered plaintiffs.

XM Radio has said the suit is without merit and the company does not air commercials on its music channels.

The company filed a motion last year for dismissal or, alternatively, a stay of the proceedings pending arbitration. It argued the case should not proceed in court because the customer service agreement it entered into with Enderlin contains a clause requiring that he submit any claims to arbitration.

Enderlin challenged the validity of the clause requiring arbitration, calling it "unconscionable."

A U.S. District Court judge denied the XM's motion, and the 8th Circuit on Wednesday affirmed that ruling, and so the lawsuit can proceed. Fun fun!

Well sure I claimed that, I was repeating was XM claimed. Obviously from whats happened in the past week it's very clear XM is not unsensored.
That's not really what they say... and that surely does not mean what you are asserting... But of course that is what you are selectively hearing as long as it keeps your choice up there.. of course cooler, more decent people are trumping the lard mouths... YOU LOSE!
