Yeah, I dont understand why if profits are so good and things are going so well why they have to rely on grants to build their sites.....Thats like the government giving Wal-Mart money to build a new supercenter in my view...its amazing how numbers can be manipulted on paper.

I'm parked in an IdleAire spot right now. I'm looking down the row of hoses (almost every spot is full). I see two hoses hooked up to windows.
Maybe, they all have the $10 stickers in their windows, that allows them to use these valued spots without being hassled! Let's see... if 3 million truckers would pony up $10 for a "permit," IdleAire could give back all the government money, improve their services, and avoid all the ill will they've been getting! Just a thought!

And yes, golfhobo - I'm nosed in.

I didn't have the room to back in.
Personally, have never seen a setup yet, where there wasn't more than the usual "aisle" space between idleaire and the nearest row of trucks! But, I'm not questioning you!

I'm just glad I don't have to be anywhere in a hurry tomorrow, because I would be hard pressed to back out of this space,
Proper trip planning might help. And practice, practice, practice!

and I don't think I'm going to trust the IdleAire rep who hasn't driven a big truck a day in her life to get me out.
Can't really argue with this. I sat one day and watched a trucker trying to back out of a spot with TWO female attendants "helping" him!

They were talking with each other and laughing, while HE had to G.O.A.L. at least 3 times!!

I put my CB on channel 3 and let "them" and their "supervisor" know what I thought of the "service!"

Perhaps, Kenandan, can improve the professionalism in HIS organization, the way WE truckers have done in OURS!?

Huh? Whachu talkin bout Willis? $10 stickers? :?

Yes you are.

It is on the edge of the row, and if I would have backed up, I would have taken out the ass end of the trailers behind me. A lousy setup. In fact, there are IdleAire spots here that are darn near impossible to get into.

Proper trip planning might help. And practice, practice, practice!
I'll just use that adverse conditions exemption.

Got me again, Rev! Kenandan wrote:

If your only going to be down long enough to get a weight ticket and then head out, we understand and we are not going to really bug you. But if your going to be down for hours, like 3 or so. We ask that you at least sign up on a silver membership. You dont have to buy an adapter, you don't have to use the services, you don't have to do anything like that. You are just asked to sign up. It's 100% free to sign up on the silver membership. And its nothing really impossible to do. Give them your name, first and last, CDL and state, and USDOT. After that you can leave the site rep to finish the rest. As the last questions are a Security Question, and 4 digit pin number.

If you plan on staying the night, we recommend getting the adapter and putting the unit into the window. The adapter is always yours, and if you ever change trucks, you can get a new one for free. Again it's for the same reason as posted above, as you dont get bothered, and its only $10.00

They are already looking to go public in the next year or two. With the laws of idling showing up everwhere, I am pretty sure that the stock will grow pretty fast.

We also have close to 1900 truck companies that are supporting us by paying for the services, or giving their drivers a discount. We also have close to 13,000+ in progress, and about 25,000 as prospects.

if idle air was to put a full on gym at all their facilities i would run out and pay whatever the fee without hesitation...But these idle air spots do not ,and because they are paid parking spots even during the day I can't unhook from my trailer and use 2 spots to set up my bench and hit a good work out ,and the space between the trucks is less than the average parking spot so even when doing workouts that don't require my bench there isn't room to simply swing a barbell betwwen the trucks ...and i can do that at most pilot lots .

I chuckled a bit when you said you were doing well ....But of course you should be you have almost ZERO overhead as your equiptment was given to you with free money I.E. grant $$$...If uncle sam would buy me 200+ trucks and set me up I'm sure I could turn some profit with a fleet of ...FREE TRUCKS...

UPDATE!

IdleAire Technologies Corporation
Announces 2006 Financial and Operating Results

Financial Results

Total net revenues for 2006 increased 120% to $14.0 million compared with $6.4 million in 2005. Basic and premium service revenues, net of contractual and other discounts, comprised approximately 90% of net product revenues in 2006 and 2005.

Operating expenses increased $23.8 million or 77%, for the year ended December 31, 2006 compared to the year ended December 31, 2005, due principally to increases associated with the “net” addition of 75 new sites, increased corporate overhead and other charges associated with impairing, retiring or disposing of long-lived assets. As of December 31, 2006, the Company had 1,017 full-time and 116 part-time employees who work primarily in the areas of site operations, customer support, research and development, sales, customer service and management.

As previously disclosed, the Company expects to incur net losses for the near future as it continues to deploy a network of locations, expand sales efforts and grow operations. However, the Company believes that increased utilization rates, combined with relatively flat operating expenses due to economies of scale, will allow it to reach profitability. The net loss for 2006 was $60.3 million, compared to a net loss of $26.9 million for the prior year; this increase was principally due to costs associated with the network deployment and the related net interest expense.
They spent $23.8 million more than 2005 to make $14 million last year, and they still had a net loss of $60.3 million for the year.

If they don't start turning a profit soon, which is highly doubtful with those numbers, they will go belly up once the grants run out. No wonder they are considering going public.

I want to use Idleaire for free darn it....i pay taxes, my taxes help pay for Idleaire...i want a peice of that action.
they are not making money anyway, just let me use it...besides, not like they are paying for most of it anyway....The whole operation just aggrivates me. I would say with losses like that they will start to scale back on the services they offer pretty soon....internet an tv channels will start to suddenly disappear.
