Actually it is legal to run capps on steers, but it is not recomended for over-the-road applications.

I always thought that it was illegal to run them on steers. Hmm..Interesting.

Well,we were using Bridgestone, but now we are going to Goodyears on the steers. I did notice one of the trucks at the warehouse had a set of Goodyears on the drives. Maybe, they wont be going through so many band aids with Goodyear.

Michelin X-Ones. I had them on my brand new FL Columbia when I worked at Roehl and they rode really nice. As far as them being better... the jury is still out on that.

Tankers often use them because of the weight loss. Equipping your truck with them will drop aprox 740lbs off the tractor weight which allows them to carry more liquid. Example: diesel weighs 7 pounds per gallon. 470 pounds = an extra 106 gallons of diesel.

EDIT: Michelin claims they can drop 800-1300lbs

You guys should watch this video. Michelin testers wired a blasting cap with C4 plastic explosives to one of those super singles to test rapid air loss/blowouts on a tanker full of water grossing 78,000 pounds

[/hijack] sorry

Thanks Prodigy. I looked at all the info on the Michelin site and watched the vids. The X Ones seem like they'd be really good. I am definitely considering purchasing them. Drive safe everyone.

We were driving Dad to Fort Smith this morning on I-40. Ahead of us I saw rubber flying through the air from a big rig. Yep, you guessed it, a recap was coming apart. He managed to wrestle it to a stop on the side of the highway and I can imagine blue smoke coming out of that driver's mouth!! 8) 8)
