What tires are best?
:D I know there are many companies that manufacture truck tires. Is one particular name brand (Michelin, Goodyear, Uniroyal, etc) tire that stands out above the others in respect to longevity, ease of ride, etc? What are some to stay away from? 8)

I'm a fan of Bridgestone.
Your question is like asking someone. "Is pepsi or coke better?" The way I look at it... the big companies who have thousands and thousands of trucks have done their homework. Crete has about 5500 trucks. I have bridgestone steers, Michelin recaps on the drives. |
I have Michelins and I think they're great. Never had any problems with them.
Actually maybe someone can help with a question about tires. I'm looking to get myself some new tires. I've seen pics of tires that are doubled. One tire instead of two. What brand are they? Are double wide tires any better? Appreciate any comments. Drive safe everyone. :) |

I have a set of Michelin XZA3's on my steers right now. They have 352,000 KM's on them. About 220,000 miles. Still have siping left, and the lowest point I could find was 8/32 of an inch. My dad just changed his, and he had 400,000 KMs with a little less wear than I have (his are 11r24.5, mine are lo pro 24.5, so he has more tread)
Excellent tires! VERY wide shoulders so you don't get that funny wear. Keep them at 105 cold, and watch your toe (1/16th is good) and they'll last a long time! For the drives, XDN2's because I drive in a lot of crappy weather. The way I figure it, if these tires save me even once, they'll pay for the extra fuel I use. Tows can be very expensive! |

Michelin, Goodyear, and Bridgestone are the major brands. But are they better that the others? Guess it depends what you are doing.

I'm not afraid of band aids,I just cant stand them. Who ever invented those things should be shot. Them things are worthless. We run re-caps on everything,but steers,and if they didnt have to,they probably would run them on the steers,too. :P In the summer,I swear,I will have 2,or3 fly off a month.
