It must have been just the right thing at the right time to tickle his "funny-bone".
My point exactly plus a Military Class on Escape and Evasion is a Plus :P

Yep, only the chatty DOT official I met up with was ah . . . shall we say, light in his loafers? Still considering his gender options? A confirmed bachelor? After 15 minutes of attempting to send NO SIGNAL AT ALL to his barrage of fluttering eyelashes and overt come ons, our boy in uniform got the hint and huffily found a reason to write me a ticket. Hell hath no wrath . . .

I was comming down I95 in Maryland on afternoon and got pulled into the scale for inspection. I went around back and the officer started talking to me. The conversation got on his exwife somehow. I sat inside the barn with him for almost two hours listening to him talk about his problems. I finally told him I had to go I wanted to get home. He let me go without inspecting me.

i'll take a chatty inspector anytime--even if it costs me some time.

I ran hot once(i used to run hot all the time) and got pulled into the garage and he was looking at my book real carefully and i was SWEATING. I think i ran all the way from champaign, ill or something to baltimore in one shot! And i had to fuel 4 times! I wonder how he DIDN'T catch that i only had two 50 gallon tanks!!! Like i said, i WAS SWEATING BIG TIME.

Then he starts bitching about how the state won't spend enough money to do things right---he couldn't read my book well and was complaining about the lack of light.

i plan on running hot again so i need as many chatters as possible.

More later.

Inside a scale in Wisconsin I asked a couple of questions about the Ruger the officer was carrying. Specifically, what caliber (9mm) and what he thought of the gun in general. He pulled and unloaded it, and field stripped it on the counter to show me what he disliked about it.
He then told me they were getting new Glocks (I believe) and the new ones were to be 9mm too because the women cops had trouble with the .40s.
Got to talking more about guns and then he pretty much sent me on my way without looking too closely at anything.

I don't usually have DOT problems but I have been looking for DOT info online (which is how I found this board, actually...). There really isn't a whole lot of trucker info... well, at least, not info we truckers can use. I found this site:Weigh Station Information, which has some interesting information but other than that it's all HOS regs or trucker tales or nothing that you were looking for.

There is a lady at the Ashland OR scalehouse who is chatty- I called up ther one night to ask a questions and I couldn't hardly get off the phone! I just wanted to make sure my paperwork was right and that they'd let me pass without a hassle and she told me all kinds of stuff I didn't need to know- even how to get around the scale even though you aren't really supposed to (but that they don't have the manpower to catch you 9 times out of 10). HELLO! What is THAT?

I also got an overweight ticket in Florida at the Pensacola eastbound scale (they gave me the routing through Pensacola around the bridge...) and the officers there were very nice and professional. They were very informative, as well -not A-holes like you might expect.
