I dont drive (I hold down the fort while hes away lol) I used to be on presciptions meds, cannot afford them anymore (not on a "swift salary" lol!) I am on advair tho for my asthma- can barely afford that, but I'd probably die w/out it! Hmm...not sure I could handle snortin' salt (or anything else for that matter) up my nose- but will try it if I get desparate- thanks.

Hey Shykatt,

I don't have insurance either, but not sure if you know this or not. Wally world has those cheap 4.00 scripts and also Check with other stores to match prices. Where we are the local grocery store pharmacy will call three other pharmacies and give me the best price. That way I don't have to drive around or go to Walmart ( I don't like the pharmacy there). The saving can be huge on was 70.00 dollar that I got for 20.00 just by calling around.

Diphtheria, tetanus, and pretussis or [DPT] are known as booster shots to us & unrelated to the flu shot. They required by law for anyone in school & under 18 here in Ontario and administered every 10yrs here.

The flu shot is entirely different & completely optional. It is highly recommended by the local health officer to those who have a comprimised immune system [seniors, school aged children, and those with respiratory illnesses or anyone in the health care field].

Thank E,

I am completely aware of the difference between shots, if you read my first post you would see that. So state the obvious.. fine. The original post was more then a month old with absolutey no responses so I posed a question to the author who stated that they were either an RN or PA.

My then second post was completely on topic. To broaden the topic to illness would open up the discussion.
I have three children and know what DTaP is (how we write it in the States). They don't regularly booster tetanus in adults unless need be and they have only started to add Pretussis to the tetanus shot. Pretussis is (whoopin cough) which in recent years is making and alarming come back both in children and adults and can be deadly. They had to comfirmed cases in my childs school.

I'm surprised that no one here has ever gotten sick from the flu shot. Many people do. My mom got sick with the flu right after she took the shot. My sister had a similar experience. My husband who hardly ever catches a cold, got sick the one time he got the flu shot. He told me never again.

I have heard people say they never had a problem what so ever with the shot. I still feel it is at least a 50/50 chance of getting sick even with the flu shot. I just don't need to be getting sick from a different strand of flu that isn't covered by the shot, and then have that strand jump start the strand the shot is suppose to cover.

We all get the flu shots in our family, there's six of us here....our youngest was a preemie, she's now four years old and since she's outgrown getting her synagis shots each winter season she's also getting flu shots...they may not cover it all and we may still catch something but the protection we get for the ones we are immunized against is well worth it for all of us here. I have three school aged children, one of them is allergic to the hand sanitizers so at least we're getting a little bit extra protection around here in getting our flu shots in. I view them as I did our youngest child's rounds of synagis shots her first few winter seasons, they won't fully protect against it all but they'll help boost our immune system to keep us from the worst of the ickies and hopefully out of hospitals through the season as well. We were set to get ours done a while ago, had to reschedule them to next week because on the original date we had colds going around our home and we've done better getting the shots being symptom free already. Hopefully come Nov. 19th we'll all still be clear enough to get them done this time

Sorry to hear that. I hope he feels better. Thankfully my hubby rarely gets sick.

Unfortunatly, my brother in law is in the hospital due to a severe panic attack. All prayers welcome.

Lucky for me and my family ~ we've never gotten sick due to the flu shot ... true there's so many strands of flue out there, but if we can give ourselves just a tiny bit of extra help on 'not' getting one of them ,.... for us it's worth the chance we take when we get them. ....

Truckfam I'll remember your brotherinlaw today in prayer ... I completely understand what panic attacks can do to a person.

Have a Wonderful Turkey Day :!:
