WaveBox 12v Microwave

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these? Worth buying for those without a larger inverter or best to forget about?

Ok - is it a good thing or a bad thing that I can't find anyone who owns one of these?

I waited for what seemed like years for this to come out, well, because it took years to come out. I lost interest because they couldn't meet their own deadline for its release several times and because I am no longer prohibited from having an inverter. I would have rather have a higher power microwave and use an inverter to power it.

I'd rather have my 1500 watt inverter and a 1k watt microwave as well. Along with that, a REAL coffee maker. But... I seriously doubt I could run that off of the cig lighter outlets in the truck - lol

I don't advise putting a microwave in the truck. Learned the hard way after going through a few alternators and 2 sets of batteries. Tried a microwave in another truck, and the alternator seized up 1 week later. Had a tripac w/ 1700w inverter and it killed the apu alternator too after a year of use.
Very convenient but not worth it in the end. An inverter + slow cooker or a 12v heater box etc is a better way to go. Last edited by Tatertot; 10-06-2010 at 03:55 PM.

it's junk plugged in 110 v outlet it's 600 wats but plugged into a 12 v outlet it's only 175 watts. not like you couldn't buy a small honda gen there tatertot for the microwave or any high drain devices and when it breaks just toss it and buy a new one. if your a company driver you might want to see what there policy is with that though.

I dont know about the 12v type but I use to do service work for years as a whalie technician and the high volt power magnatrons that are in a conventional microwave would do nothing on 12v. I would stay away from it.Wast of money and the dc current it would take to run it.
