guess i should update this. i was told i was using "regional" tires. so i found a very cheap pair of chinese " OTR tires". got about 10k on them. wearing perfect. not even a hint of wear. though i still have a nasty wobble or shake at 45 mph.

That's a biggest pile of crap i've ever heard! What it has to do with all of the above? As the matter of fact, i'm going to put "regional" on my steers next week, 90% of the time, i have 12,000+ on it. I'll let you know, how that experiment goes!

I'm curious to know! I'm so desperate to find a solution I figure I'll try it.

Tire Balancing Charts for Light Truck, Commercial and Motorcycles
I use this in all wheels for about 5-6 last years. Somehow it's sounds like balancing problem to me. Also try new wheels and drums. My steers didn't go too far either, normally around 120 K. This set i've run for a bit over 140K, MOSTLY DUE IMHO to a "curb abuse", that's why i want to try "regional". Like i've said;- 9 out of 10 i'm 12K or a bit over on steers, due to a large, front located fuel tanks, and setback axle.
