I have a Ford LNT9000 semi tractor and the clutch is showing signs of wear, such as jerkiness, slow acceleration when heavily loaded, with RPM climbing and speed not increasing, etc.
The engine is, if I recall correctly, is Cummins N14 and the transmission is Eaton Fuller 10 speed. My question is how easy it is to replace a clutch and have the flywheel resurfaced? We have a forklift and a building with an even floor. Also what would be a good source of replacement clutches? Thanks! i

No not really, i usually put the clutch on the input shaft and put the trans in, then tighten the clutch bolts thru the little opening, sounds like a lot of work, but it beats trying to get the trans into a misaligned clutch

One more question, I looked up transmission jacks (I do not have one currently). They seem to have different capacities. Anyone has an idea what capacity transmission jack I need for a heavy Class 8 truck transmission? Thanks

I can't remember the weight of my 18 speed, I wil estimate around 1000 pounds, probably high, but better safe than sorry, also I remove the clutch the same way, undo the bolts thru the hole and pull the trans back with the clutch still on it

I just replaced my clutch when I put in a new transmission. I think that I paid less than $600 for the new clutch at a local clutch shop. Like Maniac stated, it is about a 12 hour job to pull the transmission and change out the clutch.

Rear engine seal on a Cummins, not sure, on a Cat the seal is around $75.00 and once the flywheel is off, its right there.
Last clutch I bought was around $800.00, but I use the big 2500 ft lb easy pedal, amd like I said, 12 hours easy, could even be more on some trucks |
