Oil consumption

In the absence of any driveability/performance issues and any obvious physical injector failures, I'd simply replace the o-rings and do the overhead.

The engine is a 2001 and only has 150,000 miles on it. I have owned the truck since 2003. It had 70,000 miles on it when i bought it. I have never touched the injectors. It has used oil like this1 gallon every 600 miles) since i have had it. I really do not have anything to compare it to but to me, the power level IS NOT where i think it should be.
Should i have this work accomplished by a shop or can i do this myself? Hate to sound dumb abt. this but, i am. What does the term overhead mean?

I know they are not the same but, i do all the work on our race cars. the next step is to pull all 6 injectors and re o-ring them ... if you're familiar with HEUI engines, you could do it yourself

Its not a diffifult job but if you aren't comfortable getting into it, don't even start. Just make sure you don't let some bozo talk you in to replacing the injectors over this.

I know the injectors are preasure tested to see if they are in spec. Is there anyway to do just a visual or "at home" bench test to see if the injectors are sat? How often do injectors go bad and what is usually the cause?
I appreciate all the info you guys have provided me. I am sure it has been said many times over but "i sure wish i had found this site sooner"

I had a quarter of a tank when i filled. Would it be the seals/o-rings around the injectors? Also, would this cause any power loss? Hope you guys do not mind all the questions.
