According to Caterpillar's website the C16 has not been available since 2003. The C16 had a displacement of 15.8 liters whereas the early C15 displaced 14.6 liters. There are now two versions of the C15, a 435 to 550 horsepower version and a 600 to 625 horsepower version. Both displace 15.2 liters.

I was curious about the 1999 thru 2003 versions of these engines.
With the bigger displacement of the C16, I'm also curious what were it's HP capabilities. With the C15 good for 550 it seems that the bigger engine would be good for quite a bit more than 600 HP. Probably the the drive train and sanity have alot to do with the numbers.

Probably the the drive train and sanity have alot to do with the numbers.
