I was talking to Cyanide just yesterday.....and
and he was telling me about the "terrible week he had"..... But....if you know him like I know him.....well, I'll just let you get the details from him....

(pssst... It was such a bad week for him, I really had a hard time feeling any sympathy for him.....

Really, what this is all about is:

Default Tanker Info - Thanks

8) Cyanide,

I just want to say thanks for your post and all the information you have shared with us about driving tankers.

Because of your vast information on the subject I'm now driving tankers here in northern Nevada. After reading all your information I really wanted to try it. Being involved only in flatbeds years ago and having spent the last few years of my time driving refers and transit buses I really wanted to give tankers a try.

I got very lucky and found a company that would give me a chance and train me. With in 2 week I was cut loose and given a route and I'm having a great time. The pay is great and I'm home every night. I know some of you out there don't like the idea of delivering fuel but here in my area its pretty cool. The traffic is not that bad and getting in and out of most the stations is not that bad. It only takes about 45 min to load and 30 to 45 min to un-load, not a big deal.

The best part is just what you stated.. Everyone is happy to see you, un-like some of all the docks we all know to well. No dock time, no un-happy un-loaders to deal with, no more dispatchers to play games with, and the best part is while the fuel is going in the ground you can enjoy the view.

Thanks Again,

DC

Tanker has always interested me, so I made sure I got the TX endorsement when I got my CDL. I've considered taking a local job pulling diesel where I would be home every night. They offer a $1000 sign on bonus, good benefits and I would start out making $17.00 an hour with time and a half for anything over 40. However, they're so busy, I would be forced to work 70 hours in five days with two days off, (NOT a weekend at least until I built up some seniority), then rinse and repeat. That's a lot of hours to keep up with week in and week out with no end in sight, so I'm kinda concerned about burning out. Also, it gets extremely cold and windy in the winter time where I live and I'd have to travel dirt/muddy roads and chain up if need be to make delivery etc. I'm sure some of you think I'm crazy for not jumping on a job like this and you may be right, but I'm not sure I'm ready to quit OTR and I'm honestly happy working for Crete. Anyway, I too would like to thank you for such a thorough post on tanker, Cyanide.

Another quickie for everyone...

Hope this finds everyone doing great. I'm sitting around laid over until at least Monday due to truck problems. Fortunately though,it seems as though I am now employed by a company that truly believes in taking care of their drivers. Meaning that I'm in a nice hotel for the weekend AND being paid for my troubles of not yet being able to complete the load I am under. Not to mention the few hours earlier this week I spent laid over and/or in the shop. LOTS of hours!!! You'll see what I'm talking about below...

I've been keeping relatively busy the last few weeks, and am having fun along with sticking to my normal routine of keeping my workouts going in-between runs . All of my corrrected numbers are a couple of posts below.
