Any one have any info on Land Tansportaion? They have an ad on Craigslist. Sent a email out and got a responce from them, said the terminal is in Richmond, main office is in Atlanta. They run van and flatbed and use freight shakers. She said they pay 33% of the profit. I assume she means 33% of the gross. Homethime was every weekend or every other weekend.
Anyone know if they are a reputable company to work for and how well they keep you moving or any other info? Considering sending in an app. Thanks

While I have never heard of this company don't assume anything. I have heard of companies that pay a percentage of the "net" as in what the truck makes on a load after fuel, tolls, scale tickets.

Or to a company officer? The company trucks are mid-roof Century's and Columbia's. A lot of their O/O fleets are using Classics, 9200 & 9400 ITH's, and I see some T-600's & T-800's as well.

I sent an email requesting info on the company and this is what she sent me (basically what I already listed in the original post): I am an agent for Land Transportation. My office in Richmond,VA. Although our corporate office is in Atlanta. We run both dry vans and flat beds. We really need both but flat bed is better. Yes, we run to the Northeast sometimes, BUT ABSOLUTLY NO NEW YORK CITY... or surrounding bourghs. Miles are varying depending on the driver. I try to get my drivers home every weekend if not every other weekend. Pay is profit sharing. You will make 33% of whatever the owner makes. We have found that that is better for you and and the owner instead of a flat rate. The trucks are 2004 and up Freightliners with Mercedes engines. They are also automatics

i didnt know they had company trucks? i thought they were %100 o/o. The do alot of containers here in the charlotte NC and SC ports. They also do power only for companies like Schneider. The different field offices must have different setups. You must have been talking with a fleet owner cause this company is %100 owner operator!!

My brother gets 100% of accessorial charges (demurrage, tarp fees).

The operative word is agent. Doesn't even mean she's an employee of Land Transportation. Think Landstar's way of doing business. Their agents (brokers) are not employed by Landstar, they just connect Landstar Business Capacity Operators (O/Os) with loads. BOL

But what if say, The profit on a load is only .30 cpm? Do I make 10cpm? I can make alot more than that straight out of school! Wat if there is a breakdown? Does that mean no layover pay, and worse, does that come out of the profit for that week?
I think I may call the number she included next week and will try to post an update. I'm sure that there are other drivers looking for jobs and don't want them to get ripped off either, if that is what is going on. |
